Dr. Pilcher
Do you think Clarice ever went out with Dr. Pilcher for "burgers and beer... the amusing house wine"?
I think she did, but just the one time.

I think she did, but just the one time.
Imagine if Clarice agreed to go on a date with him, but when she showed up she was moody ginger Julianne Moore Clarice and he was like... ‘err... actually no thanks’
shareLOL
shareI never understood why some people find Moore attractive: https://imgur.com/a/Y7RhCq7
shareWell, I think she's cute. But Jodie Foster is prettier.
shareBecause she is attractive.
shareI get the feeling Clarice played for the other team, so no
shareReally? I never thought about. Then, again my gaydar doesn't work.
Why do you think so?
Jodie Foster is gay, Clarice Starling very obviously is not.
shareYes, Foster may have set off some gaydars, but honestly, I don't see that the Clarice of "SotL" gives any clues which way she goes. The movie never gives her a moment to relax, she's always tense, always professional, always trying to prove herself, always insecure about her background. She's afraid that if she ever relaxes and lets her true self show, she'll be revealed as the rube she is and be chucked out of the FBI and the middle class, and she's also obviously afraid that some man who outranks her will behave inappropriately, so she really stifles her sexuality and whatever femininity she might possess.
Plus, the only man who's really interested in her is Lechter, and that'd shut down anyone's hormones!
She and Lecter end up being lovers, you know.
sharePlease, I've spent years trying very hard to convince myself that "Hannibal" doesn't exist!
As far as I'm concerned. "SotL" is a stand-alone film.
Actually it's a sequel to Red Dragon.
shareSame here. The book is all kinds of fncked up, I can't blame Jodie Foster for not wanting to do the sequel.
shareThat's what made it good, it wasn't catering to fan service, and I respect that. Jodie Foster is just full of herself, and her stubbornness in not wanting to return for Hannibal was very annoying and frustrating. She should've just taken the money and gave people what they wanted instead of being a baby about it.
shareGive the fans what they want??? I'm a fan, and that's the last thing I wanted! I wanted Clarice to become an FBI agent and someone who tracks down and defeats other serial killers, not someone who becomes a serial killer's girlfriend!
Who the fuck wanted to see her corrupted.
How was she "corrupted" in the novel? It was just being honest with how things would turn out for both of them and made things come full circle, considering the nature of both stories (Silence/Hannibal), it was never going to have a happy ending. Also, the movie didn't use that ending so she wouldn't have been "corrupted" so that's not a good excuse for her to not come back, it's just silly. The movie is also a much different animal than the novel and Foster should've known that before making any judgements on the film version by reading the script. "Who the fuck wanted to see her corrupted"....fans of the Hannibal novel lol, I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say in hindsight that they should've used the novel's ending instead of the sequel bait ending we got.
shareConvince yourself all you want but it still exists. Silence of the Lambs is actually a sequel to Red Dragon in the book series and a very loose sequel to Manhunter. Hannibal isn't bad at all; people just don't seem to understand it.
shareSomewhere in the film Hannibal says that Jack Crawford likes her and that she likes Jack Crawford. She ignores the line of questioning because Hannibal is being vulgar about it, and while it could just be Hannibal being cheeky, I'm more than willing to trust his expert opinion on the matter. And it wouldn't be so surprising if she was interested in the older man given her background with her father, and seeking a sort of father figure would make sense. On that basis I would probably rule out her being a lesbian at least.
shareLesbians can like or look up to a man, you know.
shareI think you are correct. She is playing a character that was written as straight and obviously Hannibal would know right off the bat.
shareI doubt it. She was repulsed by him.
PS: This was explained better in the book.
She seemed flattered so it would be nice if she did. ☺️☺️☺️☺️
