Did anyone see this in the theater?
I was only six, almost seven at the time of its release and (obviously) I never saw it until much later. Can anyone remember the audience reactions?

shareI saw it a few times at the theater, everyone was always enthralled, and there was always a hearty laugh when Lecter tells Clarice he's having an old friend for dinner.
shareI couldn't wait to see it at the cinema as I'd only read the book a couple of weeks before.
I saw it at the odeon Leicester Sq in London with a packed audience. To be honest I was a little underwhelmed by it, I think because I knew what was coming after reading the book first.
I liked it a lot more when I saw it again a couple of weeks later. (In a smaller but empty cinema)
Was it a millionaire who said "Imagine no possessions"?
I did, the audience was really into it and laughed when appropriate.
shareI did. I remember the audience freaking out when they showed the FBI at the house in Calumet Park, IL, because the very theater we were all sitting in (at the River Oaks Mall) was IN Calumet Park.
shareI remember the laughter when Clarice says to Catherine Martin, "FBI! You're safe!"
shareYes, I saw in May 1991 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Unforgettable!

I saw this movie in the theater and I don't remember much about the audience reactions other than the last few minutes.
When Clarice was going after Gumb in the basement, with the music blasting, the suspense during those scenes was insane. It felt like everyone in the theater was holding their breath, wondering if Clarice was going to make it out of there alive. I was literally shaking during the scenes when Gumb was watching her in the dark, right up until that moment when she heard the "click" behind her.
Yes. I saw it 3 times in theaters. I saw it with best bud, then with a brother & his wife then by myself. I was too busy watching the movie to pay attention to those around me, but after afterwards people were talking about how great it was, parts that grossed them out and other comments. During some gross parts like when the ear was ripped off I heard people gasping in shock or said "gross."

I saw it with my ex wife Before we got married. She had read the book and talked all about it. It was pretty shocking at the time. It was different which was cool and it seemed everone was talking about it. I wish I coukd have put my ex in one of those pits and hit her with the hose, even if she put the lotion on!!!!
