I saw it in the theaters as a teenager. I thought it was a lot of fun and to this day is underrated for some reason.
shareI saw it with my brother in '91. I was 13 at the time, he was 10 and we loved it. The film broke down 5 minutes into the movie so we got moved into another theater. My brother and I got free passes to see another movie as a result, so we went back the next weekend and saw it again. I was also in Disney World the summer this was released. They had a guy in a real jet pack fly around in front of the Chinese Theater (it wasn't as awesome as it was in the movie). They also had some cars and sets from the film on the back lot tour. I still love this movie today, and was so excited they got Joe Johnston to direct Captain America The First Avenger, he was a perfect fit.
shareI saw it and loved it! My favorite superhero film!
shareCool thread. I was 14 or 15 when this came out. I loved this film. I was big into aviation, big into the 1930's and 1940's, and big into comics. I watched this film at least twice at the theater (first release and then the $1 theater). When the local theater was taking down the movie poster I was lucky enough to be there and was given it when I asked. I had it up on my wall for a long time. This was a great time for comic book films, especially those set in the '30s. I remember seeing the Phantom, the Shadow, Dick Tracy, etc. all around the same time period. This was my favorite though. Timothy Dalton was a great villain, and Jennifer Connelly was a huge crush for quite a few years. Dark City was another film she was great in.
Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.
nice - the art deco poster was very cool. probably worth something now
shareUm, just home theater for me. Still a fun ride.
Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

btw today is Rocketeers 25th anniversary!
I was nine and I loved the movie, and still do!
At that age, I'd seen all sorts of movies, Alien, Aliens, Predator, the Indiana Jones trilogy, Batman, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, Jaws series and much more, so I had experience with big fun movies. I liked how The Rocketeer was fun and didn't need a lot of blood to be good.
Going to see movies as a child and mid teen was so much fun!
Oddly enough, the cinema I saw The Rocketeer in was PACKED, and they all loved it! Never knew until I was much older that the movie was actually a financial failure.
My sister and I saw it in the theatre when I was 13.
I always liked it. A week later my best friend was having a birthday party and the movie he said he wanted to see was THE ROCKETEER and i was excited to see it again. He wound up changing his mind and we saw PROBLEM CHILD 2 instead.
Bit of a downgrade. (Terminator 2 was in theatres at the time, as well, and i always regretted not seeing that one on the big screen.)
"Luke Skywalker has vanished."
shame these 'who saw this in cinemas ' threads will soon be no more 😖
shareI saw it in a theater when I was thirty-seven. I liked it well enough, but I would have loved it if I had been seven. My main interest in seeing it was the similarity to my favorite serial character when I was a kid, Commando Cody.
