Was spot on except for Dan ackroyd? It wasn't realistic that someone who looked like Jamie Lee Curtis and had her fun personality would be attracted to him...... and grumpy, innocent, shy and serious can be cute but he is not attractive physically in the slightest. There were so many actors around that time that could have pulled off that personality but who are more handsome. He just didn't fit in any way in this film for me. What about Kevin Kline? He would have been great. Anyone but Dan ackroyd!! I guess I'm not a huge fan of his in general. I don't find his acting anything special nor di I find him funny in any of his comedic roles. He doesn't ruin the film for me, I still loveeeee it but does anyone else agree? Who could you see playing the dad better?

I actually believe the attraction to a certain extent-- I think there's a number of smaller reasons why she ends up with him. For instance, she becomes attached to his daughter. But one of the other points is look at her ex-husband-- I'm sure she was looking for something very different, and who was more different from him than harry? I think the thing she she noticed about harry though is the calm and collected way he handles death.

I thought Dan Aykroyd was perfect. He's a great actor. I don't think it was that far-fetched. It happens, where a person will become attracted to someone that others do not consider to be physically as pleasing to their eyes. I see it a lot. Besides, he and JLC have good chemistry together. (She has said that he is the best on screen kisser that she has worked with).
I, for one consider Dan to be a very attractive man. No, he did not look the same as he did on Saturday Night Live(his work on the 3rd season was amazing), The Blues Brothers, Doctor Detroit, Trading Places or Ghostbusters, (I, for one, find him smoking hot in all of those) but most people tend to go through stages in their lives where they may gain weight. It happens.
However, I do respect everyone's opinions. There are people and things that I don't like, that other people love. To each his/her own, right? :)

Per your reasons given...maybe it was Jamie Leigh Curtis that was miscast and not Dan?
