What a HUGE continuity error!

When Danni goes to meet Court for a night swim, its dark. But moments later she shows up at the pond...and its LIGHT out!
And stays this way until Danni reaches home again. Doesn't anyone who makes movies WATCH the film even before releasing it? How could anyone miss that?

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I just came here to see if anyone else noticed that! Danni sneaks out in the night while everyone's sleeping and suddenly it's the middle of the day? I was completely confused by that.

Also, the part where her mom tripped & fell made no sense. Why would a pregnant woman run so frantically toward her daughter in the first place? Way too dramatic to be believable.

reply

No, no, no. She snuck out early in the morning before the sun came up. By the time she went swimming, the sun was up.

Nope, watch it again. She says she is going to meet Court after dark and it is full dark when she leaves the house. After the swim with Court she returns to the house and it is still dark, in fact it is STILL dark a while later when the father returns from taking the mother to the hospital. All that happens at night so the swim should have been at night too. They tried to film "day for night" but didn't do a good job of it, or people wouldn't be discussing it here.

A great film though, despite that distracting scene.

Lol, it is pretty bad. You can even see the blue sky reflected in the water! 

It's a day-for-night sequence, not a continuity error. Not only did it save money on technical expenses (lighting) Reese was only 14 at the the time of shooting and I'm sure there were laws in Louisiana about how late a kid could work or whatever, not to mention the swimming hole was located in Kisatchie National Forest and not in Natchitoches where the Trant house is located, which are about 30 miles apart. Hence, it just made all-around sense to shoot the scene at the swimming hole in the daylight at the same time they shot the other scenes there, although I totally agree that it's glaring to the viewer that it's daytime and not nighttime. I guess you're supposed to pretend it looks darker than it is.
