There are a few movies wherein my perception of a plot or character has changed, viewing it as I got older (I'm 30) and I recently watched this and was bothered by Kit. If I ever found myself in Vivian's shoes, I would murder someone like Kit, who was using our rent money on drugs and partying with low lifes. And Vivian even wants to give Kit some of the cash she's gotten from Edward, but Kit doesn't return her calls and basically doesn't come get the money until the end of the movie. What a stupid little shyt. She's really blessed to have a friend as nice as Vivian. I find it hard to associate with 'takers' like Kit.

Tbf Vivian was supposed to be just like Kit but they rewrote it. I think Kit was what Vivian was originally intended to be, so she's a holdover also she acts as a contrast between Vivian who had potential despite her life and Kit who didn't.
Sounds patronising af now but in the day the Eliza Doolittle thing still flew

I’ve always had the feeling that Kit stays right there. Because Edward gives Vivian $3000.

Vivian goes back and gives Kit
some additional money, but it can’t be that much. Cocaine is a part of Kit’s life…

Kit is not going anywhere, yet. But the possibility is occurring to her and that’s what the audience hopes will happen, eventually.
