Out of all the garbage (no pun) that came out of this era of filmmaking, this one stands tall in the memory bank. I can't put my finger on why though.
Is it the chemistry between the two leads? I don't know. It's cool though, and deserves a higher ranking.

Pretty much a guilty pleasure from that era of 80's stars in their prime. I remember watching this film on HBO back in 90' or 91' when I was about 9 and thought it was absolutely hilarious. Wish I could find the dvd. Funny thing is upon revisiting the Sheen brothers' work. I find Charlie to be very bland while Emilio is clearly the superior actor. Of course Young Guns was Emilio's best work while Charlie's best work was his short cameo in Ferris B. Day Off.

I too, have always said Charlie's best work was also Ferris Bueller - I've never cared for him at all, even before 2 1/2 Men and all the real-life drama that's played out in the public eye recently. I've always been an Emilio fan, and Young Guns - especially part 2, has always been my favorite. I do think he's a good actor and has a gift for comedy - he's just so fun to watch!
I've always loved this movie and still quote from it from time to time. I showed this to my 11 y/o daughter and she LOVED it! She laughed at all the parts I still find hilarious and it was great to share that with her!

Charlie Cheen was absolutely brilliant in "Wall Street". Still not as fantastic as Michael Douglas, but still great.
shareYeah mostly because of Keith David. Pretty good music too, to add to the atmosphere. And I like the choice to film most of it at night. That helps because it never seems too implausible in that they're doing all this stuff in the city but there's no one to see them doing it. It also adds to the noir sleuthing vibe, which keeps everything from feeling too wacky and campy.

Nice post, OP. I also like this movie & don't quite understand why. Some solid insights in this thread. The leads were likeable, Estevez & Sheen are well-established but Keith David steals the show. It had a fun, zany tone mixed with serious themes. And it capped off a very fun style of 80s era movies.
My .02 is that I enjoyed the setting. This massively populated area yet folks are all asleep. So many possibilities, one can get away with just about anything. It was like a west coast version of After Hours.
