If this were real, there is no way they would have forgotten Kevin

First of all if they had so many kids, they would count them all on the plane to make sure that they were all there. There is no way they wouldn't notice that Kevin wasn't on the plane or during boarding. I am sure that at least his mother would make sure that Kevin was there after what happened last night. I mean I am sure they would see all the kids getting on the plane and going into their seats.

I'd argue it's a bit too coincidental that his ticket was thrown in the trash so that they wouldn't have it when they left. But I suppose the leaving the kid behind when everyone's gotten up late is not unrealistic. But then realistic isn't the word to use when 2 guys survive life threatening injuries.

I always forget about that scene. It's amazing with the amount of times I've watched it. It's kind of funny they threw it in there to explain a potential plot hole, but there's still a lot in there anyways. I don't think his ticket getting thrown in the trash is actually that important to the story.

I ran away as a teenager when I was about 14. I got up early before others got up and left. I was gone all day and finally came home after dark. At the time we had my family plus aunts, an uncle and cousin at the house. Would you believe not one person noticed me gone all day long? It’s so sad that I laugh about it now but it is still sad and surprises me not one person questioned where I was all day. This was around 1990.

That's sad:-( seems like that means you're able to relate to these kinds of incidents. I don't think I could even blame that on someone with an "off day," if not one person notices, then there must be a problem.
