so is this one awful compared to part 1 and part 2
whats your opinion
shareNone are awful except to people without imaginations and whoa re picky and looking for flaws. I rate them 10/9/8.
shareI often go back and forth on 2 & 3. The original is my favorite hands down.
Part 2 is fun in going from 85 to 2015 to an alternate 1985 than back to 1955. However part 3 is a little more simplicity like the original (that's NOT meant as an insult). I also love the western genre (mainly spaghetti westerns, but also plenty of US westerns). So I suppose an edge to part III for the simplicity and being a western of sorts.
Part 2 as I said was a lot of fun. Filled with a few too many ideas and I think at times it tries too hard to outdo the original. For me it doesn't quite hold up on multiple viewings, but I still very much enjoy it.
I just watched the whole trilogy recently, I still think the first is by far the best. I thought I liked 2 when it came out, but I didn't enjoy it much when I rewatched it. I never saw 3 until now, again I didn't enjoy it much. I dunno, both of the sequels just seem very pointless and "cash-in" to me. Really dull scripts, not even close to the original.
shareThey're all great. And they all hold up to repeated viewings. That said, this is the one I've seen the least, and there's a reason for that. It doesn't have the drama of the original, nor the inventiveness of the second. It's still a lot of fun, but imo clearly inferior to the other two.
Capturing The Spirit Of The Original
The third movie repeats the basic premise of the first, taking Marty out of his era, placing him in another, and leaving Marty and Doc confused over how to get back to 1985. The first movie features a search for a 1.21 gigawatt charge to trigger the flux capacitor, and Part III involves a similar search, driven by the need to get the DeLorean up to the required speed of 88 mph needed for time travel. Of course, this being 1885, Doc and Marty have limited resources. And just as plutonium wasn’t easily purchased at the corner drug store in 1955, finding a way of pushing the DeLorean to the necessary speed proves to be quite the challenge.
I think it's on the same level as II.
Original is best, but the sequels are great too.
My opinion is that none of the three films are awful.
Part 2 was kind of a bridge between the two movies. Enjoyable, and the return to 1955 was a brilliant idea. But you get the impression is existed to conclude what happened in the first one and set up the third one.
The third one was more like the first one, just with a different historical setting. It felt more like a complete film that could be watched on it's own. The second one, though enjoyable, feels like part of a film trilogy rather than a film that stands on it's own.
But they were all enjoyable in their own ways.
