"The Cadillac" - cringeworthy?

Just watched this episode again and every plot point was idiotic:

1. If Morty was thought to be embezzling funds, check the books. Simple.
2. The whole complicated lie to fool Susan. They met at Bloomingdale's so George could buy a new shirt with Elaine's advice to surprise Susan. Done.
3. The Plaza Cable guy cartoonishly chasing Kramer all over New York. Eeech.

This seemed to mark the beginning of the worst episodes of the series. The fact that it was double length is twice the kick in the nuts.

And I didn't even mention the whole stupid plot where Elaine is making goo-goo eyes at Jerry the whole episode because he's making great money now. This is Elaine? She probably makes more than Jerry does.

If I had the chance to write that episode, I would have stuck to Jerry and whole mess created because of the Cadillac. Even if it meant losing most, if not all, of the George/Marisa Tomei plot.

Why do they give out letter jackets to marching band? It's not a sport! We all know it!

I didn't mind the rooftop/through the park chase.. I just can't understand why he needed to physically go to Kramer's apt. to remove HBO.. cable wasn't in its infancy in 1996, surely this could have been done remotely, no?

You're preaching to the converted, because nowadays the only time I "watch" season 7 - 9 episodes is in my car's DVD player. I just play them to glance at the screen and hear the audio. Oddly, The Cadillac was written by Larry and Jerry - seems the dynamic duo were running out of steam.

Definitely cringeworthy. For starters, I hate that freaking Jack Klompus character. Any episode with him instantly gets two strikes. I can tolerate Uncle Leo, but not Klompus. He's particularly loathsome in this one when he joyfully screws Jerry on the car deal. And the subplots? Yeah, they mostly sucked, too, particularly the entire Kramer/cable guy bit.

It's not the 'worst episode ever' but I'd put it in the bottom ten. It ranks right down there with the first episode and that other early episode which takes place almost entirely in the car.

I'd include The Finale except I love the ending over the credits when Jerry is doing his stand-up routine in prison, particularly when one of the inmates shouts out, "I'm gonna cut you!". That's got to be one of the best heckler lines, ever.

Jack Klompus screws Jerry in "The Money" episode, not this one.

He's particularly loathsome in this one when he joyfully screws Jerry on the car deal.

Klompus is stealing cable service. The Plaza Cable guy gets Jack's key from Morty but can't get in. Morty tells him he's got to jiggle it. Hilarity ensues.

Not as dumb as Season 9 though, every episode in s9 was like this except much more ridiculous and unfunny.

Well, every show has to run out of steam at some point, they can't all be quality episodes.

I don't really like any episodes that feature the 'elderly' too much. They just bring the energy, tempo and excitement down, and make everything slow, tedious, frustrating and annoying. Any 'Seinfeld's parents' stuff is insta-skip for me. I can't stand most of the actors that play either George's or Seinfeld's parents. Frank can be funny sometimes, but he gives off a bit repulsive vibe, so I don't like to look/listen to that guy, and the way he speaks somehow hits my nerve and annoys me a lot.

George's mothers shrill, whiny voice is like poison to my brain, who would subject themselves to that voluntarily? And that mug?! No offence to the actor (actress?), but .. let's just say she fits the role perfectly, a bit too perfectly.

The only good 'parent' joke is the whole 'How could anyone not like him', other than that, the show should've kept the dynamic going between only the main chars and perhaps a little bit with the more interesting side characters. I guess it was an experimental show, trying all kinds of stuff, but many of those things didn't really work.

Of course 'boring stuff' inside a 'brilliant show' is still entertaining to watch as a whole, but cutting away most of the parents-stuff would have kept the tempo going, and would not have lost much.
