Did storylines repeat to much?.

I wish PTB use there imagine bit more!.

I mean how times did Daddy run away and Liz broke cup and storyline about Church and Hyacinth looking to buy house in country.

I can think new of ten storylines they could had done

1.Liz invites Hyacinth over for coffee and Hyacinth not happy with idea in slightest.

2.We see Richard side of family.

3.New Neighbour who is Battle axe character and ravils Hyacinth

4.Hyacinth is in Hospital and drives doctors mad.

5.Richard and Hyacinth travel to other parts of Europe.

6. Hyacinth loses her memory and becomes normal person and by end of episode her memory returns and she is back to old crazy Hyacinth.

7.Hyacinth/Rose/Violet/Daisy all get stuck in lift together.

8.Liz husband returns and is just as nervous towards Hyacinth as Liz is.

9.Liz needs therapy as Hyacinth driven her to overly nervous.

10.We see Sheridan and his boyfriend.

Some of the running jokes got old, especially Rose and her boyfriends, Daddy running away and Emmet's fear of Hyacinth.

I've got the knobs on my side

Nope. It's the running gags and repeating references that make the show relatable. They've introduced us to the characters, their behaviours, their quirks and demeanor, their chemistry and reactions. And they utilize this to their maximum advantage.

I find it endearing because it creates continuity and a common thread for viewers to associate with.

Well said. I don't get tired of the gags. I find myself looking forward to them even though I know what is going to happen!

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

Agreed. I actually find it amazing that they were able to operate a show around basically one joke over and over. (Hyacinth gets comeuppance) The running joke aspect does make it comfortable for viewers. You pretty much need one episode to get onboard.

The acting of Patricia Routledge is some of the most nuanced and interesting of any actor I've ever seen. Her face just commands the screen. It never feels like "one joke" because she is endlessly entertaining.

I really think that some recurring jokes like Elizabeth breaking some nice china were fun. The one thing that annoys me most is Rose. In the first season I thought her character was a little funny, but from the second season on with the new actress I thought it was too exaggerated: the character, the acting, her stories, clothes. It was all too much! I'd rather see more of the other family members. I think it would be ok if she had a new boyfriend drama once or twice in each series, but in every episode it's just way too much. I move forward on her scenes.

I believe that Rose was meant to be exaggerated, so that is how she's funny.

The repetition worked because the general premise and characters were very strong. Every community has some Hyacinths and Richards in them. Everybody can relate to someone that they know who they runaway from upon sighting. I like your ideas for other episodes. Something that should have been looked at.
