Eating replaces smoking!

In the older movies, an actor couldn't act without a cigarette in his hand. Now it's food. When I first tried to watched this "classic" 18 years ago, I couldn't get past the car scene where Harry kept spitting grape seeds out the window. Nora, who does that? Could he be more disgusting? End of movie for me. She should have kicked his ass to the curb. I have experienced obnoxious banter, but what young man would do this in front of a pretty young woman? I tried to watch this again recently to see how far I could get. Next obnoxious behavior... the tooth pick after lunch. My wish for movie-makers. No food in mouth while talking, or at least, swallow then talk. Heavy smoking in the 40s was cringe worthy, but it was nothing compared to food dependency.
