The difference between this Punisher and the awful remake is...

He actually Punishes people.

Not lame ass plot and planning getting the big boss to kill his wife and such. No stupid torture of the stoolie with an iceblock then trusting the *beep* mob associate to help him set the Boss guy up.

If he has to he will literally put you on the rack.

If he wants to he will not plot and plan your downfall. He will walk up and shoot you a lot.

He will not show up in front of everybody vowing vengence, he will step out of the shadows and slit you throat.

He will not be a big crybaby about how everything went wrong, he will be a big ass psycopath talking to god and kicking ass.

The Guilty will be Punished.

Hey retard, IT'S NOT A REMAKE!!!!!!! It's a new movie in and of itself. They in no way whatsoever "remade" the '89 version. How you came to that dumb ass conclusion is beyond me.

reply

Hey Klown Slayer, I love your name. Well, a Punisher film had been made. In 89. Then another Punisher was made... or remade. Oh, there's that one word for a movie that gets made again, what is it? Damn.. It's on the tip of my tounge.. I can't remember. What do they call movies that were already made once?

"Hey Joe did you see the reimagining of Punisher?"

"The what?"

"The reimagining?"

"Do you mean remake?"

"Yea, I was just trying to sound smart... are we still friends, Joe?"

"No. It's over Billy. You're a fag."

but it would still be okay to say the Punisher was remade, no? Becuase it was. It was made once and then it was remade again! I will accept that 04 version can be called a reimagining, but I will not accept that the 04 version is good at all and even worth this debate.

Hopefully, if another movie is made, it is another reimagining so they can get, what is a pretty simple concept, right. I mean, it's just revenge man. But revenge man sounds like an 80s movie, and sadly it's the year 2007. Revenge man has to be sensitive and metrosexual. Come on, he's a total killing machine. You know who could do the best Punisher movie is ROBERT RODRIGUEZ. A stylized brutal movie like Sin City would make me very happy. Somebody should talk to him about doing this Aunt Bessy.

reply

lol at aunt bessy. yeah. rodriguez could do a rockin punisher movie. maybe then i would actually like the hitman character that reminded me off rodriguez's el mariachi (minus the taking the guns out of the guitar case)

reply

ok heres an idea lets put Ms. Jane & Mr.Lundgren into a fight to the death.Who ever lives is the best Punisher.I feel sorry for all you Jane fans if it came to that.Lundgren may be old but he's still in great shape. He would kick Janes A$$ in a matter of seconds.

Yes, that certainly is an excellent way to gauge an actors ability. I hope you're being facetious, otherwise you're an idiot.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

Your grasp of English seems to be a bit of a problem. You don't have to say "remade again", unless you're suggesting that somehow there was a third Punisher movie which you believe is telling the same story. It's redundant.

Nobody cares if you accept if the new one was good or not. The point is, it isn't a remake of the 89 version. It's based on the same material, that is all.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

So clearly you don't understand the difference between a movie being a remake, and being based on the same source material. Keep in mind that the 89 version would technically be a bad remake of the comic book.

Listen, how many versions of Alice in Wonderland are there? None of them are remakes of one another, they simply have the same starting point. Do you get it?

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

If you take "comic book accuracy" and "remake" out of the equations, you get a fairly solid film with good storyline and acting(2004) and a campy 80s B-grade action flick (1989) with loads of eye-candy and bad acting. Which one you prefer depends on your taste, or perhaps your IQ.

I love lamp.

reply

So your saying you have a higher IQ because you like the Punisher (2004) better. That says a lot about your intelligence right there.

reply

No but your saying a lot about yours because you either misunderstood my comments or feel offended because they hit too close to home, or both.

I love lamp.

reply

How would my misunderstanding or my being offended say something about my intelligence?

I wasn't offended by anything. And if I misunderstood something let me know.

reply

totally agree with the original poster

Okay, the 04 version is definitely my favorite movie of all time, but that is looking at it from a move view, not a "Was it exactly like the comics?" view. Personally, I am fine with the re-adapting of characters and plots if it will give a better feel to the movie. I felt that the changes in the 04 version gave Frank a more human side, even though he tries to convince himself he died with his family, he has problems letting go, and feels guilty for having lived. At least that is how I feel about it. Of course, then plot-changes can go terribly wrong. I can give you one prime example: X-men. Basically, they took some people, gave them some names that just so happened to be comic-character's names, and said have at it. That being said, no one here can say whether a movie is good or bad. Personally, I love Coca-Cola better than Pepsi, but I do not say it is better. I simply prefer it more. Same with movies. Some people may like watching The Punisher put a round in every baddie's head from here to China. More power to ya. Personally, I liked the internal struggle that the 04 portrayed, but that is just my personal taste. Oh, and on the Re-make vs Re-imagining debate, here is one sentence to solve it all: The Punisher was re-made, but it was not a re-make.

reply

I feel like i'm the only one who understood the 2004 film.

It was Frank Castle's story, not the punisher's. He becomes the punisher at the end, kinda like how Tony Stark becomes Iron Man at the end. They built up the story, it was the origin, Frank castle was out for revenge, not the punisher. He takes on the mantle of the punisher at the end.

Zombie: Brains!
Me: Ha! Jokes on you! I'm an American!

The 04 movie was much better. I watch the 89 movie if it's on TV. Don't get me wrong, I like mindless violence, but Dolph's techniques where too ham-handed. Anyone who says his methods were better than Tom Jane's is a fool. What will hurt your enemy more, just shooting him, or making him distrust those closest to him, stealing millions of dollars from him, manipuluating him into killing his friends and relatives, mortally wounding him and then telling him that those closest to him were, in fact, loyal, that it it was you who played him for a chump, right before leaving the man to die? There's no contest.
And in the 04 movie, what Jane did was indeed punishment, not vengeance. The authorities had their chance to deal out justice to the guilty, but due to corruption, the criminals were walking around free. THAT is when it's time to take matters into your own hands.

"Why do you say this to me when you know I will kill you for it?"

reply

[deleted]

Exactly. Yes, there's little details that are off here and there, but The Punisher does exact vengeance like he does originally...not play stupid mind games with the mob and hang around rejects in an apartment building.

reply

Agree OP.

I love the 1989 and 2004 versions. Never read the comics. I was only saying earlier that the 2004 version seems to be about how Frank became The Punisher and that the older version deals with him already in the title role. Just my opinion though.

reply

This movie is not awful? Just look at the ratings and I believe the ratings. This one is just too much stupidity to really enjoy. Comics into movies? Anyone that enjoys comics are not getting more mature. If you still need comics and watch movies made from comics, then that pretty much covers on how mature you are. I like some comic movies but most of them are just childish. The 2004 one is still childish but better than this one by a lot.

Rated R Horror movies are better, no matter the argument.
