Does anybody think this one is the darkest one next to the first one?

It just seems a lot darker than the rest. Although I admit part 4 was kind of dark too.

Yes I agree, this one did def. have a dark eerie tone to it, despite Freddy's wise-cracks. It had the most symbolism in it than any of the others.

But I don't think 4 was dark at all, I thought it was the most colorful and brightest. Sometimes when Iwatch 4 I forget it's a horror lol

Just because we lose today's battle doesn't mean we've lost tommorow's war.

I thought 4 was dark because of all the souls trapped in Freddy's world and how at the end the girl frees all those souls from Freddy's world.

4 really wasn't dark at all. It was more of an action film with some horror elements.

The first two films were dark in a gritty nightmarish way. The third film was a mix between that and a colorful horror-fantasy. The fourth was pure colorful fantasy, but still horror of course. The fifth was more a gothic type of darkness. Freddy's Dead was an abomination that tried and failed to capture the weird Twin Peaks vibe. Wes Cravens New Nightmare is supposedly a return to the dark style of the first....but I've never thought that. It looks like any other horror movie made in Hollywood in 1994. FvJ had had some good lighting and colors but no real dark streak. The remake was dark but in that really boring Platinum Dunes way that's a dime a dozen.

Thus ends the Freddy darkness report. :P

In FvJ I thought Freddy's personality was more like it was in part 3.

He was comical but not over the top and still kinda dark.

This one was funny. Part 2 in my opinion was the darkest. Followed by ither part 1 or West Craven's New Nightmare

I think the original, part 2, part 5, and New Nightmare are the darkest of all the films featuring Freddy.

reply

Part 2 is the darkest. Closely following that is part 1.

This film was spoiled by the constant wisecracking Freddy.

Nightmares about poor Sister Amanda Kruger getting attacked by the hundred maniacs recently. So, yeah. I'd say this was pretty dark.

reply

Absolutely not. #2 was without a doubt the darkest in the series.
