I havent seen Lewis performace in this movie. But did he really deserve the ocsar over Cruise. Cause performances in Born on the forth of July was so pwerful. Never have I been moved so much by a perfomance by a actor such as Tom Cruise in that flim.

Perhaps in a different year Tom Cruise could have won the Academy Award but that year nobody could touch Mr. Day-Lewis.

Without question Daniel Day-Lewis deserved it over Cruise. I am a big Stone and Cruise fan and BOTFOJ is so dated and corny that it is almost laughable. So many scenes in it should have been left on the editing room floor. Cruise's performance is also very weak, especially compared to his bold and genius takes as Frank T.J. Mackey and Vincent.
