Could Timothy Dalton's third Bond movie been his "The Spy Who Loved Me"?

The Spy Who Loved Me is generally considered (even by Roger Moore himself) to be the best Bond movie with Roger Moore. It was if anything, the movie where Roger Moore finally started to hit his stride and find his groove with the Bond role.

I think that we can all agree that Timothy Dalton really needed at least one more Bond movie to completely establish himself and his legacy. And Licence to Kill is a really polarizing movie (with all due respect) to end his otherwise short-lived tenure on.

Imagine for a moment, if Roger Moore's Bond tenure abruptly ended with The Man With the Golden Gun.

Imagine being in a magical theater where we could see Laz play 007 until For Your Eyes only, followed by Dalton through the rest of the 80s. We could watch them grow into their roles. I venture to say the films would be amazing.

I'm not sure about that. Don't get me wrong - huge Moore fan - but he plays it pretty much exactly the same in every Bond film he's in. Not to mention the 100+, or whatever it was, episodes of The Saint he was also in and acting in exactly the same way...
