This was the first time I have ever watched the Indiana films. Here's my order...
1. Raiders Of The Lost Ark 8.5/10 possibly a 9/10.
2. Temple Of Doom - 8/10
3. The Last Crusade - 7/10
4. Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - 6.5/10
I agree. I just watched all 3 again in the last few days and Crusade is definitely a step below Raiders and Temple. Despite surface similarities it somehow lacks the grand sense of adventure and ever present danger that the first two had. I still need to re-watch Skull but i wouldn't be surprised if I end up liking it more than Crusade.
What are words for when no one listens anymore
Raiders might be the better film with bigger sequences, but the overall excitement level of Last Crusade feels greater to me. I rate both films about the same, if I'll be honest.

Crusade is my favorite because I absolutely love the dynamic between Ford and Connery as son and father. No, it's not as exciting as Raiders or as threatening as Doom, but it definitely has the best humor and wit IMO.
