A 6.3? What?

I just saw this film for the first time recently.

I have to say that the rating for this movie is shockingly low. I would have expected this to be at least in the 7s. The story is at times predictable, but then most movies are. This holds your attention the whole way through. Scott's direction is top notch, the cinematography is spectacular, and the whole atmosphere of Japan in the movie is extremely well done. The acting jobs were also very solid all around.

Black Rain isn't as innovative as some of Scott's other films but it is perfectly executed for what it is. It should be approaching the top 250, not languishing with a 6.3.

This movie deserves a rating above 7.5.

I voted 7 for this. Movie has interesting premise, is well shot, has Zimmer's score and some strong scenes (for e.x Garcia's decapitation) as a whole, film isn't something special. Ridley made better films than this. And worse. Anything from 6 to 7 seems accurate. On Rotten tomatoes it goes to 52% to critics and 56 % to audience so it doesn't only here that the movie looks underrated.

By the way, I found the movie to be great fun for some tedious afternoon.

Gave it a solid 8 myself... great film, lovely cinematography and great pacing.. Could see people giving it 9/10 no problem... I think it is fashionable to hate on Ridley Scott for some sad reason, guy is a true master of his craft.
