From the dialogue to the hairdos.
Douglas' and Garcia's acting.
Cinematography and music? Nothing special.

Best, worst, who's to say? It's all very subjective.

The only reason I'm replying is to point out the cinematography is wonderful, far from being 'nothing special'.

My personal vote for 'worst' Ridley Scott film - and I should point out I haven't seen them all - would probably go to White Squall.

Just my personal opinion.

I heard that Christopher Columbus movie 1492 was really bad and almost ruined Scott's career. I never saw it but it doesn't even have a DVD release.

It's been on Netflix, that's where I saw it, and even still I think his worst movie is Exodus: Gods and Kings.

1492 and Black Rain are pretty good and both have amazing composers Vangelis & Zimmer.

Legend, GI Jane and Exodus(awful) are worse.

It is complete junk, but enjoyable in much the same way Top Gun, or Battlefield Earth is.

It's formulaic, cheesy, ridiculous CRAP.

Catchy sountrack tho - thanks very much Ryuchi Sakamoto.

Without a doubt, this film is a guilty pleasure. Michael Douglas in full ***hole mode, with the glorious 80's pompadour, no less. Garcia was a great sidekick. Takakura was excellent as their befuddled guide into this world. Cheesy dialogue and some genuinely funny 'fish out of water' scenes in the Far East.

Can definitely see how some hate it but I think it's a very watchable film, even now.

Yeah, its boring as hell. A4 Hollywood mainstream friendly boredom from hell. It looks terrible too.

Rating The Empire Strikes Back 1/10, The Godfather 1/10, LA Confidential 1/10, whats wrong with you?

This film was great, and far from boring... great pacing and tension throughout.

I don't think so, this is a great movie. Love it. Total guilty pleasure movie for me. Dark and gritty, reminds me of some 70s movies.

I have over 6000 movies in my collection. THIS amazing film is in the top 1 percent for absolutely everything that represents great cinema. Fantastic actors, fantastic story, fantastic action, fantastic music, fantastic ending. It gets no better than this. 10 out of 10. Ridley hit it out of the park. Just FANTASTICLY entertaining movie. EVERY person I have ever showed it to felt the very same way. Movies just don't get better.
