If Harley Quinn was in Batman 1989

I know it wasn’t possible at the time of 1989 due to the fact Harley didn’t exist back then
That being said though say If Tim burton had included her in the first film along with the joker it could have worked although some say it wouldn’t but I think different they could have taken out Alicia and put Harley in there
Perhaps have her as a dr treating patients who had been admitted due to claiming to see the Batman and as a result of no one believing them they were considered insane and sent to Arkham for this could be where Harley hears the story of the Batman
She could cross paths with the joker who takes a liking to her and gives her a choice to join him in running the city to the ground or she stays as she is
Harley likes the joker because he listens to her unlike past men in her life and falls head over heels

That’s just a idea I have it doesn’t mean it would have made the film better I for one loved the first film, The dark knight also
Having been born in 1988 I didn’t get to go to the theatre to first see it instead watch it on vhs and I was blown away by how good it was
I still think perhaps they would have included a love interest for the joker think of it as a Bonnie and Clyde type of duo

If Harley had existed back then it would have been interesting to see what Burton would have done with her and who would have played her. A lot of fans have speculated that if Nolan had decided to use her (if Heath Ledger had been around for a follow-up), then Brittany Murphy would have been a good fit. I think she'd have been terrific. If you look around online you'll fine plenty of fan-art and photo manips showing what she could have looked like. If only.

It would have indeed I have heard of a suggestion of Brittany Murphy before and she isn’t a bad choice
Wasn’t Jack Nicholson in his 50s at the time of 1988 ?
Perhaps they would have had to pick an actress that wasn’t too young to play Harley possibly someone in her late 20s give or take

With Tim burtons idea it would have been interesting to see what he would do with Harley’s look would he make it similar to catwoman in Batman returns ?

You couldn’t make the relationship with her and joker too loved up really perhaps he shows her signs of affection here and there but she could just be another henchmen in his plans easily disposable of
But he also needs to show aggression towards her when she pushes him too far

Perhaps she could threaten to kill Vicki vale through jealousy when the joker starts lusting over her

I can see the pros and cons if they didn’t include her and if they did so it’s kind of a hit and miss with that one

Picture this from Batman 1989
Batman is beating the crap out of joker in the cathedral in the end scene he grips joker by the collar

“Hey bats”
He hears a click he turns around to see Harley stood there gun pointed at Vicki vales head
Let mr j go or ill blow her head off
She squeezes the trigger slightly

Maybe a little corny but you get the idea 😁

'But he also needs to show aggression towards her when she pushes him too far'

You'd definitely need that dynamic. Don't know if you're a comics reader, but the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini graphic novel Mad Love illustrates that pitch-perfectly. It's this incredibly poignant tale of how abused Harley is, wrapped up in the style of Batman: The Animated Series (they later adapted it for an episode of BTAS, although they had to water it down a bit).

As for Harley threatening to kill Vicki Vale, I could totally see that ! 🤣

I haven’t read the comics but I have seen the animated series of mad love where the joker pushes her out the window but you can see what she goes through
The killing joke is a good read have you heard of that one ?

I know what you mean some of it is pretty dark it’s a shame they couldn’t pitch that idea for the 1989 movie I suppose having another character as well would make the movie seem longer and less focus on the joker and Batman

Mad love is a good episode and covers Harley’s and jokers relationship really well

They could have used some of that with Harley in Batman 1989 where Harley deludes herself into thinking her and the joker have this whacky loved up relationship but of course this shows how far she has fallen into the madness as the joker says it only takes one bad day for that to happen

I can see her ripping her hair out with being possessive of the joker 😂

The Killing Joke is my all-time #1 graphic novel! 👍👍👍

I could see Harley ripping her hair out 😃 I could also see her ripping Vicki's hair out! 🤣

I was meaning Harley rip Vickis hair out not her own lol 😂

I read jack took inspiration from the killing joke or heath did for the role

One idea I did have was when joker is meeting Vicky at the museum what if instead of Harley being with him and his henchmen he sends her off to do something in Gotham maybe involving his smilex poison or something

Harley bumps into Batman and they have a fight scene, Batman asks Harley if she knows where the joker is thinking he’s trying to get her to tell him because she thinks he will harm the joker she refuses to say

That is when he tells her where he suspects he really is and who with perhaps he gets a hunch from the phone call from Vale telling him she will meet Bruce at the museum despite them not making arrangements to meet
Harley isn’t pleased thinking Batman is lying but she heads in the direction of the museum, with Batman not far chasing after her in his Batmobile

Upon her arrival she catches the joker and Vicky but it looks like Vicky is comforting the joker he is saying I’m melting doubled over hands covering his face he turns around and faces Vicky to reveal his dripping face which is now turning white
Harley shouts making joker and Vicky turn
What the hell is going on here who is she!
Batman then crashes through the roof

After Batman leaves with Vicky jokers men not far behind them in pursuit after joker orders them to go after them both
Ordering Harley to stay behind to explain why she came to the museum when he made plans to radio her on his walkie talkie when to meet him and also blaming her for Batman turning up, Harley is in no mood and demands to know why he has a candlelit dinner all set up with some other woman

Telling her it’s strictly business not pleasure she doesn’t believe him Harley threatens to put a bullet in her head which annoys joker he reminds her she isn’t in charge he is before slapping her around the face sending her flying

It could make for a good scene joker and Harley having a heated argument and for a bit of comedy but showing how violent the joker is towards people that stand up to him

I could see Rosanna Arquette if there'd been HQ in B89
