They were trying to find their groove, and the animation is very different... but I like the crudeness of it.
I'm watching 'The Babysitter Bandit' episode and it's giving me the good chills I had from when the show started.
The first 8 seasons of The Simpsons are very good, Season 1 was like with most shows still finding it's footing
in many technical aspects as well as development of the characters and their world.
But it has excellent writing, a lot of heart and was not mean spirited at all.
It has great episodes, my favorites are the final 2: Some Enchanted Evening and Krusty Gets Busted,
but I can watch almost any episode from the initial 8 seasons and have a great time.
The whole Krusty/sideshow bob setup story was great.
1st season I don't like Homer's voice. I prefer how the voice settled in later series.
I really like the first season, but not in i the same way I love Seasons 4-9, or even Seasons 2 and 3. I love it partly for Nostalgia of that first, huge wave of Simpsons popularity, and partly as pointed and groundbreaking satire of American (and Western) culture at the dawn of the 90s. It really was quite something for its time.
shareI love the first episode, which is Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire. On some days, I really relate to Moaning Lisa. The military episode is good. Oh! And the episode where Bart goes to France is fantastic.
The Babysitter Bandit was actually a scary episode for sure. Entertaining, but scary.
Every first season of a show is always trying to find its mojo and it's not completely there. Same with Lost, Twin Peaks and I Dream of Jeannie.
Except that Lost´s best season was Season 1 and it started with a bang. Hard disagree on that one!
