Lorena and Dish

Not to seem superficial but given her kind of work she was looking for a way out of a dead end job in a dead end town. Dish was poor and his only trade was moving cattle. He had to borrow a dollar from Gus to see her so I imagine he didn't have a lot of money. I don't think she was a gold digger, but I think she wanted to get out of there. The manager of the saloon says that "He would have married her" that implied he had maybe made the offer but seeing as his business was in the dead end town that was not appealing to her. Jake was different. He didn't like to stay in one place all the time and was a former ranger so there was security in traveling with him. He had already been to San Francisco and boasted of it building up her dreams. I think if Dish had a mind to be a little more romantic he would have used all his money from the drive and offered to take her to San Francisco.
