Okay watching this now on CHILLER after prob not seeing it since I was a kid, so he wants revenge for his dying so they summon pumpkinhead. But its bullsh!t none of the others in the party deserved to get killed they all tried to help but the other guy was holding them hostage cause he was on probation.

shareThat's the point, most of them DIDN'T deserve it. Ed was just so wrapped up in his grief and anger he unleashed Pumpkinhead without really thinking his revenge through.
Once he saw what was going on, he realized "Oh my God, most of those kids were innocent and I've sent a beast after them!" and decided to try and save them.
Ed Harley did not know they were all innocent. From his point of view they ran his kid over and then ran away and left him to die. Those that did stay did not mean anything to him. In his eyes they all killed his kid.
