I hope you kept that open mind and were able to enjoy the movie musical. I understand readers' loyalty to Divine (who was great in the 1988 movie) and Mr. Fierstein; however, my teenage son and I really thought Travolta was a GAS ! I doubt any of us know if Fierstein even wanted to do the movie...some actors prefer one medium or another...others cross over. Back to Travolta: oh my goodness! He's just so cute sometimes, like a little girl venturing out for the first time, and anyone who couldn't laugh hysterically when he comes out of the dressing room in that pink number and starts doing his song and dance...well...I'm just sorry you couldn't enjoy it. Knowing that he's actually a talented dancer, just made those scenes funnier: how hard was it to learn to follow instead of lead with Walken? how did he make some of those steps look so innocent and childlike? etc. It's agreed that 1988, Broadway, and 2007 were all different, so we have to acknowledge that Travolta's portrayal was different also, and some of us absolutely loved it! Remember: life would be boring if we all agreed.
