When did you see the twist coming? (Spoilers)

At first, I was thinking Janet was in on it with Freddy when she first appeared. It later became clear they weren't in on it together. The moment I knew for sure she was playing them was when she said she didn't have the money and Lawrence commented on how wonderful a person she was. It was pretty obvious at that point, which sort of ruined the reveal towards the end. Overall, it was still a funny movie, but they could have done a better job of hiding the twist.

For me it was until Janet starts to tell Lawrence how Freddy had stole her money and Lawrence gives her the money back. It worried me to be disappointed toward the end for finding out the twist but it didn't matter, I enjoyed it.

I didn't see the twist coming at all. It totally surprised me. That one scene that you mentioned made me tear up, I believed every second of it.

I was hoping from the beginning that it end up like that, it'd be the best common ending.
I doubted about it when she mentioned her money problems, and it was for sure when she said Freddie stole her money (well the "sex" scene already tells you something will happen, but not what).

"J," Janet, "J," Jackal. When you think about it, it's obvious.

No seriously, when I first saw this film as a kid I had no clue Janet was a con artist too, but at that stage I hadn't seen that many movies and was rather naïve about plot twists, so I completely fell for it and absolutely loved the reveal.

At the first viewing... she had me until the end. Not until Freddie finds his clothes and they read the card. It was brilliantly made.

Had I seen it today, I would have picked up the vibes when Lawrence starts having second thoughts, or when Janet comes crying to him. There is no way the script can end up in comedy unless there is a big plot twist waiting around the corner. Also I would have been become very wary when something supposedly heinous happened but we are only getting second hand account of it, not seeing it for ourselves.

I didn't see it coming at all. It completely blew me over; I was as shocked as Lawrence and Freddy (well, almost as shocked; I didn't lose $50,000 lol). She had me totally convinced. Great ending.

I got that she was scamming him when she told him that Freddy stole her 50,000 and she took Lawrence's money, BUT I thought that the twist would be that Freddy had told her about their con before they were about to have sex and that they together had planned to con Lawrence, either to have fun with him or because he wanted her to have more money when she gets back home, since they lied to her all this time. So the actual twist that she was the jackal was kind of surprising and the end-end with her returning was also kind of cute and fun acting from her.

I honestly thought that too. I thought Benson told her the truth and they were planning a con on Lawrence. I was expecting Benson to be on the plane and wave goodbye, but then she gives the money back.

I did not see that twist coming. It was well done.

knew it would end like that before i even saw 5 minutes of the movie. it's kind of obvious they have to get their come uppance in the end. still charming. i wonder if in the 80s moviegoers weren't as suspecting as today.
