It was rated R when it came out but compared to some other R rated movies now it is pretty tame
shareNah. The kill scenes are a tad too gruesome to make the cut. If it was trimmed up a little then maybe but not as is.

shareNo. You can definitely get away with more than you used to with an R rating. The old Friday the 13th movies seem pretty tame when it comes to onscreen gore compared to modern horror movies like Halloween Kills. They were constantly having to make cuts to those Friday movies to get R ratings back in the 80s, but probably could have left all that in if they were made today.
I don't think what you can show in PG and PG-13 movies has changed much, though.
