WHY NO MESSAGE BOARD???

"Another Woman" is A masterpiece about a woman who starts to realize what kind of person she really is. Similar to Ingmar Bergman's "Wild Strawberries". I think it is definitely one of Woody Allen's best films. The only problem is it's EXTREMELY underrated. So I ask you, fellow posters, Talk about this film. Post, ask about it, JUST POST. I know for a fact there are many others out there who love this film just as much as I do. Express your Love for "Another Woman" today.

I totally agree. I only watched this movie yesterday and I have never been so touched by a movie before. Definitely, best movie I have ever seen. Then again, I don't know much about movies so have not watched many similar movies to this one. Can someone recommend any good movies? I only tend to go for the ones that get advertised on magazines and tv. I only got to see this one by chance and now I am going to rent 5 other Woody Allen movies. I love the man. And I love this movie, so touching... and such good acting.

I don't feel that her transformation is shown in too short a period. It basically takes her the entire film to transform. How much longer can Woody show it to be? Is he supposed to have the "MONTHS" sign appear over and over as it does in the clip with Edward G.Robinson in Crimes and Misdemeanors? Standard practice in movies is for a character to act like a jerk the whole film and come to a one-moment realization in the last 5 minutes from which hence they are angels. This is totally unlike that. I think this is the closest film could ever depict a real positive therapeautic change in a person.

I rank this right up there with my other Woody favorites. The performances are great. Who else but Woody(with that great actring he almost always seems to get) could create such a vivid and memorable character as Larry with so few scenes and lines??

Another person mentioned voyeurism. That is dealt with with wonderful reflexiveness, as we find ourselves feeling as eavesdroppers(Marion wants to "work alone")on Marion as she eavesdrops on Hope's therapy session.

And as a bonus, David Ogden-Stiers gives a smile with his impersonation of a younger John Houseman(which reminds me of Rob Lowe's younger Robert Wagner in The Spy Who Shagged Me).

Yes, this is really one of his best films. In the beginning I always wanted Woody to act along with his directing, but after so many of his one-way selfish style films, which they partly were, he can now look at the whole picture (life) with other characters. - Without himself. This seems like a very deep and mature turn from Woody.

Brillant directed and Gena Rowlands should really have deserved an award or at least a nomination for her great performance. Maybe she just wasn´t feminin enough, which was very important in the late 80´s. I love her style, though she might seem dominant sometimes. Underrated...

Absolutely GLORIOUS music in this film. Which song is the haunting melody that plays throughout? It's also near the end (although NOT the song played over the credits).

Yes, Another Woman was breath-taking! It is possibly one of the most forgotten and underrated films in movie making history, and it was snubbed of it's rightful Oscar nominations, including but not limited to: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress Gena Rowlands, and Best Original Script. Though a lot of the supporting actors stole every minute of their scenes such as Betty Buckley, Sandy Dennis, and Mia Farrow they weren't quite Oscar-worthy, but were worthy of other minor award nominations.

Not to get off track, but actors actually have won Oscars for shorter performances than the aforementioned ones, the main one being Judi Dench winning Best Supporting Actress for her 6-minute performance in Shakespeare in Love, and another being Beatrice Straight, winning Best Supporting Actress for an approx. 10-minute performance in Network.
