Although her part was small, Sandy Dennis was EXCELLENT in this movie. I believe she should have received a Best Supporting Actress nomination. The acting was all great, but IMO, Ms Dennis really stood out!

The insecurities and bitterness Claire really came across in the most credible way. A very small part and one played brilliantly by the late Sandy Dennis. I couldn't take my eyes off her.

Bitter, irrational, suspicious character played to perfection. She and Betty Buckley as the bitter first wife who shows up at the engagement party two 'anchor moments' of the film. Women cutting through the 'niceties' to speak their anger and sorrow.
