One of my 'most perfect movies in every way'

From the cast to the script to the sets to the directing, a top-notch film that could go into theaters today and not look dated.

I agree! I watched it last night on DVD and I loved it, especially the last line of Eliot Ness.

reply

Ahhh youre nothing but a lotta talk and a badge!

reply

I saw it yesterday. It's amazing how it made the last 50 movies I've seen look cheap and amateurish. It's a masterpiece of filmmaking (but not history).

reply

It is a great movie. The scene on the steps was done so perfectly.

reply

Was that a quote from Bye Bye Birdie?

reply

The first movie I ever saw in THX. Sounded great! Ennio Morricone's score absolutely crackled with that sound system.

3/10

De Palma sucks. Some of the performances were OK though.

reply

You suck

reply

You have a Scarface poster on your wall, don't you?

reply

Agreed one of the cheesiest directors of all time. Amateurish cinematography. Even the cast couldn’t save this absolute turd.

reply

I agree..used to love it as a kid but it doesn't hold up. It's looks great and it has some other good qualities.

reply

Agree I've always liked this movie a lot.

reply

It's a corny, old fashioned movie. It's VERY dated.

reply

I don't find it dated at all. It's as close to a perfect film as can be, and as much of a crowd-pleaser in 2023 as it was when it came out. What aspects of the film do you find dated??

reply

Good, honest cops vs crooks.

Scarface is a very 80s movies but its themes are universal and timeless. Do you know what I'm saying?

reply

Because some of the cops are honest, you find it dated?

reply

It's copaganda, ffs!

reply

It's a timeless, excellent film by my reckoning. It gives a nuanced view of the police-- some are good, some are corrupt, some are in between.

This was a throwback to the many 1930s gangster films, the 1930s was what started the gangster craze with cagney, robinson, raft, etc. You wanted it to be a Scorsese 90s film style when it's a 1930s film.

reply

i must have been cranky that day. it's an alright movie. still pastiche of the movies you mentioned. Little Caesar, Public Enemies, etc...
