Racism in Spaceballs

Is it just me or was the "We ain't found *beep*!" remark a bit over the top in the combing the dessert scene?

I thought the afro-pick part was actually pretty funny (one of the few redeeming jokes in this movie) but then it was immediate ruined with a super stereotypical line that's way beyond OK (and should not have been acceptable even in 1987). How did this get through editing?

So there was never a black man that talked like that throughout history? Who made the proclamation that all black men talk like this? That's on the OP for believing that this one character was a representation of all blacks. Also, if you think about it, they actually portray the black guy as smarter than the "whites in charge." He's basically saying, "We ain't found *beep* Because you crackers are being too *beep* literal!" He's the only competent Spaceball and realizes that these idiots are making him perform needless tasks. The other Spaceballs are sheep who don't question authority.

I think it's racist that in almost every space movie whether it's Star Wars or Star Trek, almost every black person that is shown is so well spoken, which does not reflect on a large amount of the modern day black man. It was nice to see some realism, even-tough it was in a comedy movie.

Exactly. It's difficult to make a joke that laughs at racists, because some people can't undrstand it, and will confuse it with actual racism (exactly as happened here, the OP doesn't know what racism is).

You can flip the viewpoint and see that the black man has more (space?)balls than anyone else, because he isn't conforming to the norm of the bland, grey responses, but uses a more relatable vernacular of the common people, and is thus.. STICKING it to the (white) man!

You can see this scene from MANY viewpoints, what kind of a fool would only stick to the least plausible and most idiotic one? Look more broadly, Mel Brooks makes fun of anyone and everything, but although he has used 'shocking' scenes and 'forbidden' words, not even the most ardent 'black power' whitey-hater black cult leader could find Blazing Saddles racist against black people anyway.

On the other hand, racism against white, heterosexual men is probably completely OK, even when it's ACTUAL racism and real, especially when committed by 'minorities'... according to the OP's worldview, I bet.

On yet the other hand, the OP seeing racism where there is none is 100% as ridiculous as claiming Star Wars movies are racist against white people because stormtroopers wear white uniforms.

stupid blacks and liberals dont know the difference between stereotype and archetype. In fact, stereotype is some made word created by some faggot who got bullied.

reply

It's just you, OP. Pull the stick out of your ass and stfu.

"It wasn't me who was murdered, was it?"

reply

The man who directed this also directed Blazing Saddles and you're complaining about this?!? Not the casual n-words that were thrown around in early '80s films like 48 Hrs?

reply

It's you.
