Robocop(1987) or The Terminator(1984)?
I prefer The Terminator, but they are both great films.

Difficult question.
I like horror movies. And The Terminator is a fcking scary movie. I like the whole punk-horror-cyber-science fiction-techno-neo noir-thriller- thing about the movie (what a word ) . I also like the weird music. And i like time travel in my movies. I liked it from day one as a horror movie.
RoboCop i liked as a kid, because Robo was bad a$$. I liked the whole police aspect of the movie. I liked Basil Poledouris' score.
But now that i'm older, i started liking RoboCop on a whole new level. The whole rebirth thing. The soul thing (he feels his family, but can't remember them), the philosophical touches Paul Verhoeven brought to the film, the humor, ...
So, difficult question. I guess The Terminator, because of the horror aspect.
Now, RoboCop 2 or Terminator 2
Personally, to me, both are terrible movies.
I'm just on my way up to Clavius.
I never really thought of The Terminator as a particularly scary movie even as a kid. There were some creepy and gross moments, but I never really thought of it as a part horror film.
Also, I love Terminator 2
Our local TV station aired a lot of scifi horror movies every saturday night.
The following movies were aired in those weeks: Alien, Aliens, The Terminator, and The Thing. I must have been 10 years or so.
So waaaaay too young to see those kind of movies. Aliens and T1 were the scariest for me.
Alien only got scarier when i got older.

Why didn't they film a RoboCop versus The Terminator?

How come there was never an actual "RoboCop vs. Terminator" motion picture produced?

Who would win, Terminator vs. RoboCop?

Because there is not a soul on the planet that would be able to handle the awesomeness.
shareRoboCop .
shareLove them both, but I gotta go Terminator.
shareRobocop. I love The Terminator but Robocop has more to say. Aside from the whole 'What makes us human?' question that cyberpunk usually explores, it also satirizes 80s consumerist politics. It shows us a future so obsessed with material gain than even a man has become a product. Verhoeven's satirical style rocks.
shareRoboCop
shareThe Terminator. I like Robocop but find Terminator better. Also I love Terminator 2 and as far as I am concerned anybody who doesn't like it is a hipster.

I'm the furthest thing from a "hipster", and Terminator 2 sucks. It's a kid's movie about a boy and his pet robot. The non-actor dipshit kid with his pubescent cracking voice and lesbian haircut was one of the most annoying characters in movie history, and the poor man's Rambo, Sarah Connor, was a completely different character than in the first movie, and almost as annoying as the shithead kid. Them turning the Terminator into a fluffy, non-killing pet robot who takes orders from a jackass kid was asinine. "As far as I'm concerned", anyone who likes Terminator 2 is a Millennial, or might as well be one, i.e., someone who is younger than Edward Furlong and thought he was a "cool older kid" when they first saw the movie, and was part of the target audience for a kid's movie.
On the other hand, The Terminator (1984) is among my all-time favorite movies (and I like the other Arnold Terminator movies better than T2 as well, though none of them are among my favorite movies), and Linda Hamilton actually played a believable character in that one. I like Robocop (1987) too, but I like The Terminator better.

Yes!
Absolutely spot on. I've been saying this for years, but every time I did there was an outcry of 'Blasphemy'! on the old IMDB boards
And I agree too! I did love T2 when I was younger, but I've come to the conclusion that in fact is a mediocre movie at best and way too overrated. For me T1 is the only Terminator movie.
shareThere is so much wrong with T2 it makes you wonder if Cameron actually forgot about the original and didn't bother even giving it a re-watch before diving in.
shareI don't know, because I never bothered to do any research.
I believe that he just wanted to subvert expectations by going in a very different route with the characters. Which up to a point worked. Was it any good though? No, I don't feel that way.
To be honest it's a fun movie as long as you shut down your brain and just look at the pictures.
Tbh, it is a fun movie. Great (groundbreaking) special effects too. But as a sequel to the Terminator it loses so much of what made the original great. A few plot holes too. Although i'm sure those die hard fans will argue otherwise.
shareOf course, fans by definiton don't think in a critical way. IMO fandoms are the worst thing that can happen to anything.
shareTrue.
I dare say as well, those people who defend it so much possibly seen T2 before seeing the original and were wowed by the SFX
I was awed by the effects back then, but I'm also honest with myself and most CGI shots didn't age that well.
I understand nostalgia and good memories, but it's not my cup of tea. I prefer to see reality as it is and not through tinted glasses.
Plus, I like to change my mind about movies. It means that I pay attention!
