Just wondering about other films some of you may feel is similar, whether in plot or style. It's a very unique film in the spy and political thriller genres, very much unlike other classics such as Three Days of the Condor and All the Presidents Men. I've always preferred spy and political films from previous decades, so there may be a number of films from the 1990s to the present that I haven't ever seen.
Any suggestions?
This movie is a remake of the 1948 film-noir 'The Big Clock' starring Ray Milland directed by John Farrow.
Both are based on the novel 'The Big Clock' written in 1946 by the American writer Kenneth Fearing.
The story first appeared in abridged form in The American Magazine (October 1946), as "The Judas Picture."
The 2003 thriller movie 'Out of Time' directed by Carl Franklin and starring Denzel Washington also owe a considerable amount to the novel, although the setting for all three stories are somewhat different.
Absolute Power (Hackman basically replays his NWO role)
Hunt For Red October (at times NWO plays as if its in the same universe almost like a prequel, theres a reference to a Red October type 'phantom submarine', Fred Thomson in both films, and we get an idea of what Costner wouldve been like as Ryan had he taken the role - he eventually appeared in the Ryan-verse in the 2014 reboot).
