Can't really beat Rupert Graves as Alec Scudder. That beautifully fuzzy stomach and... the rest. ;)

Alec Scudder

I'd say Scudder was the hottest but Maurice was pretty hot as well (especially during the boxing scene).

Clive was more the cute type, though.

I fell in lust with rupert graves in this movie. The first sex scene with him and james wilby is still one of the hottest scenes i have ever seen. I'm a straight woman and when i saw this film i realised that watching boys kissing each other was quite pleasurable.

Rupert Graves - the hottest of them all!

In terms of looks, Hugh Grant/Clive. In terms of character, Scudder, obviously. (But I find him even hotter in the book.)

Rupert Graves was exactly what I pictured Scudder would look like. God, he was so *beep* perfect....

Sorry for the James Wilby fans out there, but definitely NOT him (too many bad associations with him as the odious and violent Charles Wilcox in "Howard's End"! Ugh).

I almost died when I read that Julian Sands was slated to play Maurice. I could go nuts, just picturing him with Rupert! Remember the "bathe" together with Simon Callow in "A Room With a View"? Youth, energy, unbridled eroticism and beauty, echoing George's shouts from the Florentine hilltop!

But my vote goes to Rupert Graves, by a long shot. He's 50 now and STILL radiates sensuality. Hugh Grant was fine but much too uptight (as he was supposed to be) to be "hot". HE had to wait for "Bridget Jones" for that...

Looks like the votes are heavily in favor of Alec Scudder/Rupert Graves! I think it's a combination of Rupert's boyish (yet raw, masculine) charm, as well as Alec's uninhibited character.

As someone above wrote, that scene with Maurice and Alec in bed together was one of the most erotic, beautiful sex scenes in film! And the boathouse scene...too romantic for words!
