I rank them in order by how they were released. None of them are awful, but part 4 is the least fun.

Part 4 is almost a complete action-comedy.
shareThat's why I enjoyed it I think.
The first is great, a fairly serious movie with a few moments of humor, then they progressively get sillier with 2 and 3 being in that awkward zone. I think the humor in 4 landed better than that in 2 and 3, it also had better action sequences and decent villains (a lot more memorable than those in 3).

Neither 3 and 4 are particularly good but at least 4 had a good villain in Jet Li, and most of the action scenes were good, and had some brutality to them like 1 and 2.
The action scenes in 3 were mostly dull and tame, and it looked like a TV movie. And Jack Travis was such a weak villain.
