2 is good, 3 is okay, 4 is ridiculous but watchable, 5 is okay, the rest are sufferings for your eyes, and not the sweet kind! It should be noted that since the 5th one, they've been released directly on DVD. The 9th one was even rushed in a week merely to retain the rights for the franchise. Don't have any expectation!

Some of the sequels are great. But I warn you they are extremely disturbing. Part 2 is great. Part 3 is okay. Hellseeker is great.

What was your opinion of the first movie?

If you liked the first one, you should like the second one too. After that they get progressively worse and unrelated to the first movie. I enjoyed all of them except the most recent, but not everyone does.

Hellbound, Hell on Earth and Bloodline are really good. The rest range from mediocre to just plain bad.
