Trust me. Unless your a diehard fan, skip this one. Plot is awful, acting(except Bronson) is awful, special effects are awful. The stunts are the worst. There's a part where Bronson is jumping off a motorcycle and understandably they have to use a double, but you don't even have to slow motion it to see its a mexican stuntman who looks like Sanchez from Death Wish 3. This is not so bad its good, its just so bad.
This was a Cannon movie and, like most Cannon films, they had to cut corners. I lived near the VA hospital grounds in West LA when they filmed this and I remember for the exterior White House scenes they created a "white house" set on those grounds because they were too cheap to use a real studio. It looked wretched in the final product.
But for me, beyond this was the supporting actress -- not Jill Ireland but the horrible Japanese-American woman who played Bronson's "love interest". She was the worst. An absolutely awful actress who would be bad if this were a high school talent show contest. Unbelievable how Bronson went from working with actresses like Ursula Andress, Claudia Cardinale, Lee Remick, Jacqueline Bissett, Angie Dickinson, etc., to this chick...I can't even recall her name...oh man...
Her name is "Jan Gan Boyd"... beautiful name, and you're right, she is the worst actress I've ever seen. At least with Cannon you expect some nudity though - NONE! And her constantly trying to get laid by Bronson was so disingenuous it was painful.
It was almost as if they were trying to make this one a family film. Wasn't it rated PG-13? Horrible movie. thought it's funny that Clint Eastwood did something similar afterwards. You can see the difference when you have a first rate crew behind you.
I must be in the minority here, but I found Jan Gan Boyd to be totally hot!!
Did somebody say that she wasn't hot? I thought they just said that she was a bad actress.
I came here to see if anyone mentioned the bad acting in this movie and it was nice to see this thread. I guess Netflix can't afford good movies after paying so much for "The Blacklist."
I saw this in the theater years ago and really liked it. Wasn't the best film made but overall enjoyable. A little different for Bronson, but he was a special agent not dirty harry, so he was a little more subdued rather than shooting everyone dead in sight. The guy was like 65 at the time of filming. He did a great job.
Watching it now and not only is her acting bad, but the entire relationship with her and Bronson is so hammy that it’s comical. Everything about this one is so bad it’s good though.
