Who do you think has the death scene from G1 bots?
I personally believe Iron hide has the best death in the movie. He is doing everything he can to complete his mission for Optimus, but in the end falls short. He ends his life by desperately crawling to Megatron's foot and looking up at his villain shouting, "No!" only to hear "Such Heroic nonsense... [BOOM]" Certainly most emotional to say the least!
1. Starscream 2. Prowl 3. Ultra Magnus 4. Kranix 5. Unicron 6. Random Autobots being dumped into Unicron's acid vat 7. Sharkticons, when they fought against Hotrod, Kup and the Dinobots
Prowls death was pretty graphic. He gets shot clean through and his eyes turn black and smoke billows out of his mouth. He was dead before he hit the floor.
Ratchets was particularly violent. Watching a medic get his chest turned into swiss cheese like that:(
I wasn't sure if I personally thought it was the best, but for whatever reason Ironhide came to mind as soon as I read the subject line. I also like the "camerawork," and how it just cuts to the ship flying away.
And I just really liked Megatron's line. One of many lines that felt "adult" without being completely cheesy (though I admit it comes close). They could've just treated it like simple-minded kiddie fare, but they really added a little extra to the dialogue.
Watching the scene on Youtube now, it's funny how Megatron yells, "Die Autobots!" They never would've gotten away with that on the TV show.
Most of the deaths are pretty gruesomely awesome. Prowl with smoke billowing out of his mouth, then his body lay smoking with a gapeing hole in his shoulder, Ironhide's epic death, The insecticon who gets his head crushed by Hot Rod/Kup. All are great.

I remember reading somewhere about the story boards and two death scenes that didn't make it in were Red Alert getting stepped on by Devastator in a scene that happened right after he broke through the wall and just before we see Primes shuttle fly into view.
The other death I heard that got nixed was when Optimus mowed down the decepticons during his rally he was supposed to punch Dirge in the face and his head shattered/exploded from the impact like a pumpkin hitting the sidewalk.
Maybe they thought that was WAY too violent for Prime. I think so too, regardless of how cool it would of looked.
Totally agree. After the constant antagonism between him and Megatron throughout the first two seasons, it's emotionally satisfying to see the ultimate pay off. And damn, is it cold! TV series Galvatron always seemed histrionic and full of bluster to me, Movie Galvatron is the real deal.
And this scene? Definitely would never have made it into the TV series!
I'm glad that you brought up the Red Alert/Devastator link. In the TF movie anniversary edition, they go over the storyboard that was scrapped where Devastator enters Autobot City and is confronted by Ultra Magnus in car form with 4 autobots in his car carrier. They all embark from UM and transform to attack Devastator (I guess they felt the Dinobot entrance was a better fit for engaging Devastator). I wish they would've worked that scene in or possibly had another decep combo (Menasor or Bruticus) on hand. Would've been nice to see.
What is funny is before Mike Bay's 2nd transformer movie came out, a supposed leak script was to have Sam driving with Bumblebee from NY to Las Vegas Nevada. During a highway construction detour, the constructicons transform and try to nab Bumblebee. However, Ultra Magnus comes to the rescue with 4 autobots in tow (same as the cut scene from TF cartoon movie) and they surround devastator in a huge firefight. I guess a missed opportunity regardless. They wasted Devastator in Bay's movie. I kinda feel that leaked 2nd script would've have been a good movie instead of using "the Fallen" Seems Bay never really gave Megatron his true screen time by going with other villians.
Reading the way you describe those scenes, I wonder if the writers were just having fun trying to come up with over-the-top scenes. And if they would've toned it down if they realized how much kids were attached to those characters.
Were there any test screenings? It would've been funny to see their reactions if they'd been in a theater full of crying kids. It would've felt like killing Santa.
you and me both, thats the only death that bothered me when i first saw it so long ago. he was my favorite so thats partly why but it just wasnt fair!!!
well it WAS fair because he deserved it after everything he did but you know. lol but at least he had a fitting death and i'm glad he realized it was Megatron. it wouldnt have had the same impact if he had no clue who that guy was that was killing him.
you gotta wonder though, had Starcream not dumped him into space would he still be alive? was that THE thing that finally pushed Megatron over the edge or was it just finally his time and he woulda died anyway? lol

This is probably my own personal interpretation but I always decided it was the change to Galvatron that did it. I think Megatron would have (foolishly) forgiven Starscream like he always did, lol.

Not sure whether he actually died or was just injured. I presume he would of been finished off off camera. I remember Brawn, despite being one of the smaller Autobots, being the first to confront the Deceptions when they first break into the star ship only to be taken down by a big hit in the shoulder from Megatron.
I never understood how one of the supposedly tougher and physically durable autobots like Brawn could die from being shot in the shoulder. They should have had him shot in the chest, face or a follow up kill shot like they did for Iron Hide.
