I didn't get to see the one (now deleted) reply to my tagged-on question in the plot hole thread. So what the heck.. here is a brand new thread.
Just explain to me, in convincing enough detail why Unicron pops Galvatron into his mouth - complete with Matrix - when he could have done anything else like, say crushed galvatron and flung the matrix into a sun somewhere nearby??
I look forward to being challenged by someone even more obsessed with this movie than myself!
Hubris. The downfall of most uberpowerful villains of his type. He couldn't even imagine anyone getting in there to retrieve it, let alone use it. NO! IT CANNOT BE!
-- You have many question, Mr Sparkle. I send you premium -- answer question, hundred percent!
I always thought Unicron had an ego the size of a planet. Yes he could have crushed Galvatron in his fingers but he just wanted to make the point that everyone must suffer. Should never have transformed at all, really.
a hitting target is easier to hit so actually unicron transforming makes sense to avoid being attacked. underestimating galvatron and the matrix was his downfall
He didn't under estimate Galvatron... he under estimated that the movie was Hot Rod's resume for becoming the next leader of the Autobots and failed to anticipate the Matrix eluding his internal defenses (which MIGHT have been what kept Galvatron SAFE actually) by simply wearing the Matrix it may have kept Unicron's defenses from attacking him! But then Hot Rod, who attacked an Autobot ship prior to the Decepitcon's landing (spoiling their sneak infiltration), keeping the Matrix from falling, fighting to save a (literally disabled) friend, putting Kup back together, using the greeting on the RIGHT 'friends', going up against the Quintessons' court and learning more about who Unicron is (& having/showing care about others - the last survivor of Lithone dying by the Sharkitcons), wanting to keep on his toes while traveling and being ready for the fight instead of sitting around, and taking charge at the end plowing the ship through Unicron's eye. Hot Rod didn't find the Matrix... the Matrix was finding HIM.
And it was through THIS movie I learned what the heck "Dismemberment" meant which Unicron SAYS before digging his mits into our favorite planet and them ALL fighting to defend Cybertron! I wondered if the Matrix was indeed 'Primus' and that Cybertron could have transformed had they found WHERE to put the Matrix IN Cybertron. They didn't bring this idea to any fruition until Armada/Energon/Cybertron trilogy for 4 year olds... and then it took what... 7 episodes for even Unicron to transform... really!?
Anyway, the G1 show's mythology went against the MArvel comic mythology... and I always wondered if the 'comic' myth was more correct and what they were trying to go for... yet Season 3 (with all the trips in time and what not) and the Quintessons showing up sort of dispels that notion or idea... I still find it funny, how they supposedly all came from Cybertron and they all have NO idea where everything is on Cybertron... and always finding 'new' creepy mazes, passageways, and traps, and stuff... had they had the money for a TRUE season 4... would they have gone FURTHER into Cybertron to rid the Headmasters & Powermasters & Targetmasters of the Nebulon issue?? Or just go a complete different direction... the Micron bots were neat toys and I collected a few and one of the little Autobot bases (with the windmill-looking 'dish). And in a way, connecting Beast Wars to G1... the DID get smaller once we saw the cliffhanger to The Agenda part 3... things that make you go... HUH!?
I once wrote a fan fic about the Jumpstarters finding the supposed 'Decepticon Matrix' lost in a derelict space ship on the other side of a black hole. But it ended up being just the spirit of a long lost Decepticon leader, but it changes/upgrades Twintwist into this HUGE monstrosity. In the meantime Perceptor was dealing with the energy crisis (now all living back on Cybertron, with many Decepticons given amnesty and Megatron exiled.) was looking into the smaller Transformers as a way to 'save' their future - which I myself was leading into Beast Wars a bit. Single Decepticons and Autobots both start disappearing or dying... then Top Spin finally makes it to Cybertron in the ship the Jumpstarters were in in the beginning and explains TwinTwists disappearance to Optimus Prime... and that's when Twin Twist erupts from the ground under everyone and he fights them all, and I forgot HOW it ended exactly... I remember Megatron being found and confronted by Prime demanding an explanation on the death of Air Raid or First Aid...and a female Autobot as well... and then Megatron demands why Thundercracker and Swindle were destroyed along with a Decepticon city tower as well... THAT'S when Twin Twist showed up! And after coming out of the ground he transformed so fast (remember how the Jumpstarters transformed...) he shakes the entire planet, actually preventing the old leaders from fighting, but instead turns on them both. And because two characters were killed by 'evil TwinTwist' Superion and Bruticus couldn't form, and they had to merge alliances just to create A combiner to help taken down TwinTwist, because other combiners groups stayed on Earth. It was SO long ago...
I'm not a writer and lost the contest, which I didn't care (and my username was erased and banned for no reason at all... I was rarely in the boards... and it happened with NO reason or warning as to why.) I'm still questioning why the heck I was banned. I never gave anyone lip, I never cursed while every one else did, etc. etc...) I never went again the board rules as far as I know... and that was a DECADE ago, and I'll never forget that story line I created. Then I found it 'odd' how in Combiner Wars Megatron was sort of exiled and 'at peace' with himself... Hmm... anyway. And at the end... Teenager-talking Menasor simply walks away with the all the Autobot Cominers.... WHA??
3rd generation American from a long line of Gottscheers... it was Drandul, dude!
Perhaps he did underestimate hot rod. Interestingly galvatron intention was to make unicorn his slave and he did attack his master. Whether unicorn predicted this is debatable.
