What *made* this film for you? (possible spoilers)

A thread like this used to exist and was most interesting so I'm re-inventing it.

At what point during your viewing of the film did this film suck you in and you fall in love with and/or admire the film?

For me it was the 'tiger' scene: the music (Shriekback's Coelocanth) so perfectly setting the mood for a sensual and erotic scene saved from peversity by the emotions of Reba caressing the tiger and Dollarhyde imagining himself as the tiger, perhaps. It was perfect in capturing the relationship between Reba and Dollarhyde. The lighting upon Joan Allen's skin gave a sense of spiritual ecstasy too. And it was a real tiger, wow!

Music. The slow, voyeuristic movements of the camera.

Great choices. I love the music and the camera is voyeuristic. I'm reminded of Will's dream about Molly; the way we watch her move, in slow motion, walking towards him is voyeuristic.

Edit: Btw, any key moments where the music and voyeuristic camera most struck you?

"it was the tiger scene that did for me. Even now it's hard to put into words how marvellous is this scene."

I remember William Petersen in the Michael Mann documentary from 2000 ('the directors") saying that his favourite part of "Manhunter" was the tiger scene!
Petersen isn't even acting in this scene but he said he loves that moment...Petersen is a brillant underrated actor and he has good taste too!!

I'm glad to hear I'm in good company in my choice of favourite scene, from a wealth of favourite scenes in one film.

One of the best scenes in the film is the one where we're introduced to Dollarhyde. The attractive young female tech seems to be flirting with him, but he's so withdrawn that he can't reciprocate, or even speak or look at her. He then walks away with a dejected look, and comforts himself in the only way he knows: by staring at photos of his next victim and planning another murder.

The one that always gets to me is the grocery store scene where the Graham's are out for a bit of shopping and then suddenly the son confronts his father about his health and his time at the hopsital after the brutal attack by Dr. Lecter.

As Will delivers the line: "Kevin, they're the ugliest thoughts in the world" and with the beautiful Graham's Theme by Michel Rubini in the backround the conversation suddenly changes to the two of them discussing normal things again such as what kind of coffee brand Will prefers as they walk towards the shopping line.

Nice choice. It's one of my favourite scenes. The dialogue and behaviour of both actors in that scene were so authentic.

All the Lecktor scenes, Cox is incredible. Also love his final appearance when he's on the phone to Will, tormenting him as usual while lying there in those hilarious big warm socks.

:) It seems so wrong he would wear socks such as those!

The socks he needs to get blown out of as far as Will is concerned, I assume.
