One of the worst in the series...

I see a lot of reviews saying that this is the best of the series. I'm going to say with the exception of part 5 and maybe 8 and 4, this could be the worst. The silly resurrection scene and some atrocious acting/ dialogue really don't make this one stand out. This film originally had a 4.3 rating but somehow has risen to a 5.9.No way, this film is not worthy of that.

I just don't understand at all why people like this one so much. Now it even has a rating equal to part IV, which is miles better than this piece of crap. The plot was terrible, the acting was terrible, the pacing was terrible and outside of the boat scene, there was no tension at all. It also had the worst final girl and the worst characters in general. The only thing this has over part V is that Tom McLaughlin is a better director. But even he couldn't save (HIS OWN) crappy writing. I hated this movie.

(I'm also not saying part V is good, but at least it was okay camp)

My issue with this one is that it focuses more on the police station and older characters that it does on the counselors. All of the previous entries, and many of the later, were about the kids. We got to know them and feel for them when they died. In this one, it's a cop movie about a boy who is wrongly accused and the counselors play a back seat to that. The movie had potential and in the novelization, the counselors do have more scenes. When it came out, I was early twenties and looking for more development of the characters so I could feel for the victims.

Part VI is one of the best and the last good one.

This is my second favorite next to The Final Chapter but I can see why it might not be seen as one of the best. But it's most certainly not one of the worst either.

SHUT UP. ITS THE BEST. NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK.

Now that the typical IMDb reply is done.

To each their own. I didn't find the first 4 films very exciting, but the frankinstein resurrection making Jason a zombie terminator even stronger and harder to kill than before is the way I prefer Jason.

But I can see others points if you don't like it being a supernatural theme and being a messed up human, then I'm not going to argue with you, no one is the same and nor does anyone think alike about everything.

Just as long as we all agree that part 8 was the worst of the worst!

Part 5, then maybe 8

That's an incredibly ignorant comment.

I've seen all the first 8 movies and I still think part VI is the worst. Part VIII is actually one of my favorites, I thought it was much funnier than the sixth one and also had better characters/acting.

Your response to this post shows why you do not like VI. The poster was joking as he clearly explained. And part VI was hilarious and I guess you missed that too!

I would say my memory is not what it used to be. But I don't remember what my memory used to be.

It isn't the best but it isn't the worst. I'd place it somewhere in the middle. Part 5 is my favorite of the sequels.

This is my favorite of the series.

Yeah high body count, but no gore. Yeah beautiful girls, but no nudity.

CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre.

"With the exception of parts 4 7 and 8" 

That's like half the franchise. You're not a fan. :)

This is a 6.5 easily.

reply

Right! Lol, I was gonna say the same. As is noted on here, it being "Self Aware"(The usual way to describe it) is what makes it so great. Sure, it's not 1-3, but it took the series in a fresh direction which at this point, was kinda needed. I prefer the feel of 1-3, especially 1 and 2 but this is as campy as it gets. Definitely a 6 to 6.5 or so.

Can't say I am....but I do like them as guilty pleasures (except part 5)

It feels like i'm watching a "Hallmark Channel" Movie with Jason
