James Bond...Timelines...

OK, so there's a lot (READ: A lot) of continuity errors involving the 40 year stretch of the original Bond series before the Daniel Craig reboot. This is partially based on an idea I found on a Facebook post, of all places, but tweaked slightly......

The Connery era is one timeline. DAF is a sequel to YOLT. OHMSS doesn't exist here. Blofeld alters his appearance in accordance to Fleming's stories. Bond isn't seeking retribution for the death of his wife; he just wants to take SPECTRE down. In the end, Blofeld is killed when Bond destroys his base. Perhaps this Bond retires and settles down with Tiffany Case (as Connery retired after this one).

Then, there's Lazenby-Moore-Dalton in one timeline. This explains OHMSS as the first time Blofeld and Bond meet, and Tracy is actually avenged when Blofeld is killed at the beginning of FYEO. Perhaps LTK takes place after LALD, explaining Leiter's absence and the likeness. Therefore, TLD is a prequel or atleast takes place before LALD. Then maybe the Moore run carries on. I like to believe that Bond's last adventure was Octopussy and he settled down with her in the end. However, LTK could take place at the end and end with Bond getting kicked from MI6.

The third timeline is Brosnan's. This explains the time gap before Goldeneye begins and there is no overlap with Living Daylights. However, just a sidenote, maybe Brosnan exists in the same universe and Bond was darker with Dalton due to Trevelyan's supposed death. This new timeline also explains away Bond's problem with Wai-Lin's keyboard after what he said in YOLT. This story ends with Jinx and Bond together with diamonds. Brosnan's likeness in video games lend themselves to this timeline; a Moonraker repeat occurs during the Nightfire period and a second Max Zorin is added as Diavolo's mentor in EON.

We then move to Craig's timeline, the only definite reboot. I believe Blood Stone to be a part of this story, but what 007 Legends? Are GF, OHMSS, MR, LTK and DAD all part of Craig's timeline?

The one problem w/ OMHSS being in its own universe, is that how do you explain the scene in which George Lazenby is in his office taking out what's obviously mementos from his previous adventures (thus, indicating that maybe he's supposed to be the same Bond as Sean Connery's)?

My timeline of how it was in the last 53 years dividing it in three universes

UNIVERSE A
*The Sean Connery era
Dr. No (1962)
Goldfinger (1964)
Thunderball (1965)
You Only Live Twice (1967)
*The George Lazenby Era
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
*Sean Connery's Return
Diamonds are Forever (1971) (Bond is going after Blofeld in the begining of the film for a simple reason, his wife's death without a mention)
*Roger Moore Era
Live and Let Die (1973)
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) (Tracy gets a mention)
Moonraker (1979)
For Your Eyes Only (1981) (Bond visits Tracey's grave in the begining of the film)
Octopussy (1983)
A View To A Kill (1985)

UNIVERSE B (Has the same continuity as A, but these events could have been retconned)
*The Timothy Dalton era
The Living Daylights (1987)
License To Kill (1989) (David Hedison returns as Felix Lieter correcting that Bond is always one man, not another)
*The Pierce Brosnan era
Goldeneye (1995) (the events of 007 and 006 mission may have took place one year before TLD)
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
Die Another Day (2002)

UNIVERSE C (Spearate from A and B because Casino Royale is a reboot, new timeline)
Casino Royale (2006)
Quantum Of Solace (2008) (direct sequel to Casino Royale though the year it takes place is 2006)
Skyfall (2012)
Spectre (2015)

Dr Strange laid it out in SpiderMan No way Home. Its called the multiverse. Maybe one day with CGI obviously, we can get a Bond movie when this gets addressed and the film contains not only all the past James Bonds but the villains too

Hey I like this!

This guy was way ahead of his time in terms of his thinking and nearly hit the nail on the head. He was so close in his reasoning to my now commonly accepted belief that it's a different Bond in OHMSS rather than a different timeline. I discuss this groundbreaking theory further in the following seminal thread:-
