anyone else watching for the first time?

I've never seen this movie before - what a beautiful story - and Geraldine Page's performance is so touching...

First timer here. AFter going through my own mother's condition during her final years, and now going through my mother-in-law's similar issues, it certainly strikes you. How people go on this bell curve, starting as children, maturing, and then ending up as children once again.

It's the full circle of life for those who are blessed to live long enough to experience it.

I can only imagine how lonely and scary it must be for aging people who don't have children/family to care for them.

God Bless you for taking care of your mother and your mother-in-law.

Yes, I've been watching it almost non stop on TCM Movies on Demand LOL! I think I watched it 3 times Thursday, 3 times Friday, and so far on the third time today. I pick up different bits each time I see it because I'm doing things while I leave this on the tv. What a beautifully scripted and acted movie. It will be one of my favorites!!! And I do love the 1940s. It's probably my fav decade for movies to watch so this period piece is perfect!

Yep. Saw it was coming on TCM. The 4-star rating caught my eye, so I checked and saw it had an equally high rating here on IMDb, so I DVR'ed it.

Just finished watching it, and it was beautiful. Without any prior knowledge, I immediately felt I had just watched the best female actress of the year in Geraldine Page. The performance of a lifetime, IMO.

So glad I caught it, albeit 30 years late.
