Do any guys out there like this movie?

This seems to me like a movie that would appeal mostly to girls, am I wrong? It's not a comedy, and there isn't much action, it's more a character study which is why I think probably most guys wouldn't like it. I'd be interested to know if there are any guys out there who did enjoy this movie.

Loved it BITD and I'm a redneck dude. As stated in another thread about this film it was on HBO daily in the 80's.

Love the end credits, beautiful fall scene/heartwarming memory of REAL friendships. I remember it being interesting as a teen and the whole 1st love/coming of age was what drew me to it and finding it cool. Great memories of this flick, wife loved too bitd. I could relate to the movie then, need to find it for old times sake.

I really liked it.
Not only girls can find it interesting, I think. It shows things about frienship between man and woman, the first time making it, and all that stuff about being a dumb 15 years teenager. It brings me some memories about that age (3 years ago), and the final scene with the three in the road is just amazing with the soundtrack.

I was eleven when this movie came out. I was thinking it came on HBO around the time I was 12 but I think I saw this movie when I was around 15 also.

I'm a 35 year old man now and literally 20 years after seeing this movie (only once) one line has stuck in my head all this time:

"Orgasm is exquisite relief from torture" [why] "well, it's torture not to have the orgasm"

First off, that scene is very inappropriate and the man knows it and the girl is very anxious for a man's attention, it's a very sad scene really. It makes me realize why statutory rape happens all the time.

As a man now who has a 15 year old daughter, I see a lot more in this movie than I used to (though I haven't seen it again, I just remember that one scene).

It's not a guy's movie but a guy can find things in it.

What hump?

Yes I do like this movie as a guy. It didn't try too hard to be something it wasn't (like a comedy).....it was just a simple story of friendship. And despite being simple, it was also quite meaningful. I took more meaning out of this movie than Breakfast Club, St. Elmos Fire, etc. Those movies felt like....movies. They tried too hard and were overdramatic. Seven Minutes in Heaven felt like they were just filming actual life.

Love this movie. As a teenaged boy, I would have watched Jennifer Connelly in a movie where she just reads the phone book.

But this is a sweet movie. I haven't seen it in years (wish it would get a real dvd release), but had a vhs copy taped from HBO that I watched many times. It didn't follow the same formula as most teen movies - but I liked that. The characters seemed very real to me.

I don't mind cheesy '80s teen comedies, but this one is bad. I think it's one of the worst teen comedies of the 1980s. The sole reason I watch this movie over and over, is for Jennifer Connelly. God, I can watch her films from the '80s and early 90's -- the good, mostly bad -- over and over just for her. I can't even describe in words how madly in love I am with young Jennifer. Jesus, she was divine.

If you're an older man, this is a really creepy comment, especially since you are so obsessed with "young Jennifer." Your comment made my skin crawl.

A late reply, but eh...

Anyway, back when I wrote that, I was still in my teens (way younger than Jennifer). So excuse me for being a male.

Its cute and highly underrated. I'm a dude and I totally like this movie ever since I was a kid. Its a relief to see an 80s era teen film where the kids don't seem to have the weight of the world on their shoulders like the ouevre of John Hughes.

I loved this movie...it struck a cord at the time when I was teen. Its a movie for the teens of the 80s.
I was 16 when it came out and my folks moved down the coast, leaving me alone in a big house,so i knew how Jennifer Connelly character felt lol

It is definitely a chick flick, one of the early "girl power" movies before that term became popular; look at how the female characters are portrayed compared to the more subservient, quasi-emasculated role of the male character, hardly an equal. With that being said, I did not mind the movie. I even liked the cheesy-ass song at the closing credits, "Dear You", I think it was called.
