Am I the only one that noticed that this Series is Incorrectly Titled?

Ok do you get what I mean?

First Blood (1982)
Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)
Rambo III (1988)
Rambo (2008)

The original was titled either Rambo or Rambo: First Blood in most foreign nations, apparently b/c the idiom first blood doesn't mean much outside of English if it even exists.

I think the sequels wanted to market the name Rambo in the titles in the US so the 1st one has been renamed Rambo: First Blood informally much like Raiders of the Lost Ark became Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark to keep consistency. (You'll notice it is on the box art of some DVD/Blu Ray releases and it is listed that way on tv sometimes).

Also, Rambo 3 is the 3rd Rambo film, which is what the series was always called by people anyway, so much like Jason X, generic but it works. The 4th one was originally called John Rambo but changed but Stallone b/c he didn't want people to think this was the last one by mirroring the Rocky Balboa title.

I got the extended cut of Rambo and it actually comes up john Rambo at the start

That was Stallone's thing. The fourth film was going to be called John Rambo right up to the last minute...then the studio decided to just call it Rambo for the posters and such.

So for the director's cut, Sly titled it what he wanted.

Inconsistent titling always chaps my hide, whether there are numbers involved or not.

No. You're not the only one. There was a video on this very thing years ago on cinemassacre.com right before the 4th one came out.

LOL yeah first AVGN on sequel titles and then again on Rambo in particular:

In the second one you have to wait till the end as it's mainly about the NES and SMS Rambo games. But funny stuff either way.

Yes

Rambo III should have been titled "Rambo II: First Blood Part 3"

Your post is more 'incorrectly titled' than these movies.

You're using really weird, incorrect capitalization, combined with a thought error as well. At least you use correct punctuation and capital 'I', kudos for that.

I am so tempted to just respond, 'yes, you are the only one that noticed how oddly these movies are named, AVGN definitely didn't make a vide about this in the 2000s, and I have most definitely never, ever talked about it at all in helpless and frustrated fury during these past decades'.

Yes, we noticed, yes, people have talked about it, yes, it's really stupid, but it's not 'incorrect', as there's no entity that can dictate what is a CORRECT title for each movie - movies are supposed to be 'art', and thus free to have ANY title the 'artists' damn well please to give it.

The naming convention is ridiculous, idiotic, illogical, and makes no sense, but it's not 'INCORRECT' per se. You can only have 'incorrect' something, when there's a clearly defined 'correct' on the other side, that absolutely SHOULD have been used. For example, using 'loose', when you mean 'lose', is factually and absolutely incorrect.

Playing loose with titles is not.

"s, we noticed, yes, people have talked about it, yes, it's really stupid"

no not really , theres nothing wrong with the way they titled it .
even though there were two changes in "naming convention" along the way

I think you missed the more obvious error with the OP's title - The Rambo series has never been incorrectly titled by anyone (as far as I'm aware) to match the title of any of the individual films within the series...
