Who should play Leroy?

Haven't kept up with news of the sequel, but whoever does it and stars in it will have to be careful not to mess with the good flow of the original. I know it's been panned as a 'cheesy' 80's movie, but it's fun and doesn't take itself too seriously.

The way things are in Hollywood now, I'm sure they'll try to find a way to jam Zac Efron into the lead part....lol.

Hopefully they don't trash the remake; it woul def be a shame if they did.

I can totally see taylor Lautner as BRUCE LEROY from HARLEM. Good going. What's next Ashley Tisdale in the Wiz? Can't wait to see her easin' on down the road.

The thing is that I know that they would give the new Leroy the most current hair style that is popular right now. I do not think it would work for a remake to be honest with you because no one can replace the original actor who played Leroy or even Sho'Nuff. They can try but it will not be the same though.

This is going to be a very difficult decision to make. How do you replace an icon like Taimak?

What we're looking for is someone who embodies all the qualities that Taimak had in the original film. A young,charming and handsome guy who is proficient in martial arts. He must also be humble but still maintain the physique of a "Master". There aren't too many well-known actors out there that meet the criteria. Most likely he will have to be someone unknown or an up and coming talent that hasn't had that break through role yet.

I checked out some of the names that have been mentioned so far and there are a couple who show some potential.

1. Pooch Hall- I really like this guy as a potential Bruce Leroy. He has a good look and he can play younger than his actual age. He also has a small built in fanbase of people who know him from the TV show "The Game". Throw in the fact that he has a boxing background and I'm pretty much sold.

2. Wesley Jonathan- I like this guy also. His performance in "Roll Bounce" stood out to me. He's athletic and a pretty good actor. Like Pooch, he can also play younger than his actual age. If it were up to me he would definitely get an audition.

I have to admit that some of the actors that were suggested were horrible choices.

Khleo Thomas- Huh??? The kid from "Roll Bounce" who played Mixed Mike???? Come on now~~!!! Seriously??? Wrong look, not manly enough and just "NO"!

Tristan Wilds- I can't see the female audience falling in love with this guy the way they did with Taimak. He's very plain looking and his body is a little flabby. Have you seen the picture of him with his shirt off? Last Dragon fans would feel insulted.

Chandler Parker- NO, no and no!!! I would rather have Taimak in his mid 40's than this guy.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming. Casting for Leroy is right around the corner and should be taking place within the next few months.

Hmm ... Jamal Rashawn Dennis from Glory Road ? Yes he's pretty new ... I would have to say no to this selection ;as his acting would probably best be suited to a B movie at this point in his career.I would rather an actor with A list talent played the part.
