I don't remember where I read the review, but there was a funny observation about Bennett: "He's not intimidating or a badass - he's just a fat idiot with a knife."

Bennett was not a strong villain vs Arnie!
The idea that fat, flabby Bennett is the equal of Arnie is hilarious. I always figured the lion's share of the budget was gobbled up by Arnie's salary so they had to take whatever they could get with what was left.
Anyway, I don't care, this is one of the greatest movies ever made because it had one goal, to get Arnie out there dishing out one liners and ass kickings after Terminator the year before, and it succeeds big time. Glaring continuity errors like self-repairing Porsches? No problem! Put it in the can!
bennett was an over the hill, grizzled badass who loved his steak and 'taters,
not fat, just indulgent
Yet it’s the same actor who played Wez in The Road Warrior, so he is very capable of being convincingly tough and menacing. I’m sure the director in Commando told him to play for laughs.
