So when Monday came...

...I think they all ignored each other and went back to the way they were.

reply

THATS REALLY SAD.

reply

Sad, but it is realistic. Too bad they didn't do a sequel about what happened on Monday.

reply

From my experience at school that is how it goes. The only time they would have spoken to each other would have been in private. Perhaps some awkward smiles to each other when they thought no one was looking.

reply

Well, the princess will go back to her ways and there is no chance she dates Bender. That's a doomed relationship, especially since his weekends were filled with detention for several weeks.
I can see the jock end up with the basket case girl, at least for a time.
Maybe the only one who will even acknowledge the brainy guy is the basket case girl.
Carl and Vernon will likely become drinking buddies.

reply

The jock might use goth girl for some cheap fun especially once he realizes his friends won't accept her even after her make over.

Brainy guy and basket case have the least to lose so yeah it's possible depending on how their friends (if she has any) see them.

Princess might use Bender as some fun something to piss her father off with. It will be doomed and Bender might just fall in love with her. Than burn the school down when she laughs at his affections.

There's no chance that the makeover is more than a one time event. She's not suddenly going to become "girly," change her entire wardrobe, and start getting up early every morning to put on makeup for school. She'd go right back to the way she was.

reply

I would hope so actually. I thought it was a terrible make over very childish and without any consideration as to her personality.

reply

That kind of egomaniac is not the way she is 'naturally'. It's a psychological reaction to some sort of fear, like 'not being accepted' - so she goes the other way to take control of the situation by always making sure she's 'not accepted', so she becomes as weird as possible and tries to get as 'shocking' reactions out of everyone as she can.

It's not what anyone 'naturally' is, there are so many defence mechanisms and illusions people cling to, because at least it's better than being 'psychologically naked' out there, being judged by everyone. At least she has a gimmick to cling to, for desperate illusion of control.

You need confidence and mental-emotional balance to be able to just be yourself and wear whatever clothes you like and your hair in whatever way you want. The basket case isn't strong or confident enough to come out of that 'freak' shell, so she's doomed to remain in it. The predictions here are right - there's no way anyone changes so fully in such a short time without a much stronger basis for such a transformation.

reply

I am sure she has some kind of social group too, even if it is just one or two people who she sometimes talks to and they would be, in personality at least similar to her.

Her new look would alienate them whilst not attracting any new people because they would still her as a freak. Because as you say, she still is a that basket case.

reply

she seemed too shy and squeaky to act "normal" for long enough to keep a relationship with him going. plus he was a meat eater and she was not.

reply

Exactly. The basket case isn't going to do that. That is not who she is. It was fun during detention, but when Claire sees her monday, she will be once again ignored. I bet on it. When she approaches the jock on monday, he too will ignore her and when she walks away he will laugh with his friends, but may have a moment of regret after laughing. Even though they all say they wouldn't ignore each other, they will.

reply

there's a lot of well written fan fictions that take place on monday. surprisingly these fan fictions aren't perverted like the usual ones.

reply

I think so too. It’s sad but I think the is the best conclusion. I was always the basket case but managed to become friends with the most popular girl in high school in 9th grade. I was so lonely I didn’t mind that she ignored me in school. She had explained she had a reputation to up hold. I was clueless to what that meant. It took about a year for me to finally move into her group. She made it clear if the others didn’t accept me she’d walk away from the group. Sadly I moved and when to a new school and was back down to basket case.

But my point is I saw first hand the pressure she was under to be who the other kids thought she was. She was her real self with me.

reply

That would’ve been a good name for the sequel, lol. “When Monday Came”

reply

i thought the princess banged the badboy, the jock banged the ugly duckling, and wuss boy continued writing homework

reply

The movie leaves it open ended. We don’t know

reply

We don't know, but I am certain that they all went back to the way it was before that Saturday detention.
