I think a GTR would be a great choice for a modern time machine, personally. Obviously they’d need to update the 88 mph to something a little higher since it’s not really that fast anymore. What would you like to see as the new time machine if a reboot occurred?

So today the most similar cars in production would probably be Teslas (as others have already mentioned).
I believe 88 miles per hour is the 'magic' number because if you rotate an 8 by 90 degrees it looks almost identical to the infinity sign... obviously going 8 miles x hour would be dumb... so the 88 would probably have to remain if these movies were to be remade... which I can accept, but would rather them wait a couple more decades.
