Rose is the least funniest out of the four

Some of the worst episodes are the ones that focused on Rose. She rarely made me laugh. The St. Olaf stories, in particular, were mostly unfunny.

I have to admit that's true. Sometimes her stupidity could be funny, but the only funny things about the stories were the reactions of the other girls. I especially hated it when she made up complete BS about the Scandinavian languages and culture. Very low brow humor.

When she takes back the teddy bear from the girl scout she's hilarious, though.

I'm Swedish, but I just take the fake Scandinavian thing as the dumb bs that it is and shrug it off.

It just wasn't funny, though.

What was funny was how the others reacted to those absurd stories.
It is really amazing too that Betty White could tell them with a straight face or that any writer could come up with them in the first place.

I can’t agree with that. Imagine the show without Rose, or Betty White’s precise comic timing. Not only did I find her a laugh riot, that character counterbalanced Dorothy’s detached sternness, Sophia’s caustic sarcasm and Blanche’s unrelenting sluttiness! She gave the ensemble a great deal of its warmth and heart.

I would agree. I still love Rose but of the four she was the weakest (but still great)

The Great Herring War is still one of the best scenes ever on the show.

I like the ep where she is talking about learning about sex by watching the bull and cow on the farm. And Blanche asks her if the bull gave her an unrealistic idea of how men really were and Rose responds in regards to her late husband that “Oh of course. That bull sure would have been jealous”.
