Maybe it's good for someone but it's arguable. They TALK whole flick like "look at us we pretending to be rock band and crew" very rarely throwing subtle jokes. It's Sacha Baron Cohen type of acting but virtually without jokes.
I think the depth of the humour is somewhat limited by its material, so what should have been a 10 minute skit is turned into a feature length movie. There's only so many jokes you can make about rock stars being idiots before it gets tiresome.
That said, the humour is soooo dry that it just about works if you laugh at the movie, and not with it.
Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to its awesomeness.
Speak for yourself. After experiencing the high school phase of musical discovery (this is describing high school at the start of the 21st century mind you) where all the guys are droning on about Zep and Floyd and almost fapping to viewings of The Song Remains the Same its hard to not enjoy a feature length skewering of the incredible pretension of that culture.
That is actually a very good point. The "high school phase of music discovery" hasn't changed, and most people continue to drone on about pink Floyd and Zep well into their college years, and further on into adulthood. I was afflicted by such people with these pretensions as well. Maybe I should watch this movie with new eyes.
I'd also like a movie that parodies the Kubrick fans. The people who drool over 2001 and The Shining like it's some new discovery.
So basically what you are saying is you aren't smart enough to understand the genius of this movie. You probably didn't think it was funny because most of the comedy went over your head.
Please do not feed the trolls. That would be you, ssseuth, in case you didn't get it. Of course I am sssure you will come back with another of your brilliantly unassailable counterpoints...
